Bus Driver/Kitchen Assistant

The Peck Center (Senior Services) is seeking a responsible, dedicated, organized, and community-minded Bus Driver/ Kitchen Assistant. This position includes primarily driving the Peck Center’s 10-passenger bus (or the VW BUZZ), with some assistance with serving prepared food, and cleaning the kitchen.

Position: Part time $18.00 per hour.

Schedule: 2-3 days per week, approximately 3-4 hours per day (flexible depending on availability).

Bus Driver: Candidates must have a good driving record and experience driving a bus or van and be cheerful, patient and prompt. A CDL is NOT required for this position. Responsibilities include: safely transporting residents to and from the Senior Center or to specific locations including Shaw’s, various banks and pharmacies. Assisting passengers with boarding and exiting the bus and operating the handicap ramp as necessary.

Kitchen: Kitchen work includes setting up/breaking down tables, serving prepared meals, and cleaning and maintaining the kitchen. In this role, you will maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety, and ensure our members receive nutritious, high-quality meals in a welcoming environment. The Peck Center is partnered with EBCAP and utilizes high-quality, pre-cooked, and prepared food items. There is no handling, processing, or preparation of raw meat or raw seafood for this position. Kitchen experience is helpful but not a requirement.

Skills: Experienced 10- Passenger Bus/Van driver, Responsible, organized, and strong interpersonal communication skills for interacting with staff, volunteers, and senior members.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs as needed for inventory restocking.
