About x10 Ventures
x10 Ventures is a strategic buy-side advisory firm helping moderate- to high-net-worth individuals identify, evaluate, acquire, and grow businesses. We specialize in guiding first-time buyers through the complexities of business acquisitions while also supporting SMB owners pursuing growth through strategic acquisitions.
Our approach combines technology, AI-enabled processes, and hands-on advisory expertise. While we leverage technology to improve efficiency and decision-making, we believe successful acquisitions are ultimately driven by strong relationships, sound judgment, and exceptional execution.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Business Acquisition Advisor to guide clients through the entire acquisition journey, from defining their investment criteria and evaluating opportunities to evaluating businesses, negotiating transactions, and successfully closing.
The primary focus of this position is advising first-time business buyers, who require a particularly high level of education, strategic guidance, and support throughout the acquisition process.
This is a buy-side advisory role, not a traditional business brokerage or sales position.
You'll represent the interests of buyers, helping them navigate complex transactions, assess opportunities objectively, manage risks, and make informed acquisition decisions.
The ideal candidate combines transaction knowledge with exceptional client relationship management and the operational discipline to move multiple acquisitions forward simultaneously.
This is currently a part-time position requiring approximately 10–15 hours per week, with consistent availability Monday through Friday to support clients, coordinate transactions, and maintain deal momentum.
This is a structured role within an established team, with defined responsibilities, reporting relationships, deadlines, and performance expectations. While the position is currently part-time, the level of ownership and accountability remains consistent with our broader organization.
As x10 Ventures continues to grow, there may be opportunities for expanded hours and responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Buy-Side Advisory & Deal Execution
- Help buyers establish acquisition criteria aligned with their financial objectives, experience, and long-term goals.
- Evaluate prospective businesses, including financial performance, valuation, operational considerations, and potential acquisition risks.
- Guide buyers through offers, Letters of Intent (LOIs), Valuations, negotiations, due diligence, financing, and closing.
- Help clients understand deal structures, SBA financing requirements, and key transaction considerations.
- Work closely with brokers, sellers, lenders, attorneys, accountants, and other transaction stakeholders.
Client Experience & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary strategic advisor and point of contact throughout the acquisition process.
- Simplify complex financial and transactional concepts into clear, actionable guidance.
- Set realistic expectations, communicate proactively, and maintain client confidence throughout the process.
- Advocate for the buyer's interests while maintaining productive relationships with sellers and intermediaries.
- Be comfortable advising clients when an opportunity isn't the right fit, even if that means walking away from a deal.
- Deliver consistent strategic value and a high-quality client experience at every interaction.
Transaction Management & Operational Excellence
- Manage multiple active clients and acquisition opportunities simultaneously.
- Maintain accurate deal pipelines, client updates, transaction milestones, and documentation within company systems.
- Establish and consistently meet transaction milestones, deliverables, and deadlines.
- Proactively identify potential roadblocks and coordinate solutions to keep transactions progressing.
- Leverage AI-enabled tools and internal processes to improve research, analysis, communication, and execution.
- Collaborate with x10 leadership to continuously improve the acquisition process and overall client experience.
- Maintain clear internal communication, follow established reporting structures, and take accountability for assigned deliverables.
- Demonstrate consistent execution against defined performance expectations and operational standards.
Qualifications
Required
- Strong experience in client-facing advisory roles, ideally within M&A, business brokerage, commercial banking, transaction advisory, consulting, or related professional services.
- Demonstrated ability to guide clients through complex financial or business decisions.
- Working knowledge of business financial statements, valuation fundamentals, and acquisition transaction structures.
- Familiarity with SBA 7(a) financing, lender requirements, and common acquisition financing considerations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, clients, and deadlines.
- Sound business judgment and a client-first approach to advising on acquisition opportunities.
- Comfort using CRM platforms, technology, and AI-enabled workflows.
- Proven ability to take ownership of responsibilities, meet deadlines, and deliver measurable results.
- Ability to work effectively within an established organizational structure while maintaining consistent responsiveness during the business week.
Preferred
- Direct experience representing buyers in small business acquisitions.
- Previous business brokerage, M&A advisory, or business intermediary experience.
- Experience with LOIs, due diligence coordination, purchase agreements, and transaction closings.
- Experience working with first-time business buyers, entrepreneurs, or investors.
- Real estate or business brokerage licensure, or business intermediary certifications, where relevant.
- Experience working in entrepreneurial, high-growth, or boutique advisory environments.
The Ideal Candidate
You're someone who enjoys the art of deal-making but understands that a successful acquisition isn't simply about getting a transaction closed.
You're analytical enough to assess an opportunity, commercially minded enough to negotiate effectively, and personable enough to earn the trust of clients making some of the largest financial decisions of their lives.
You take ownership, communicate proactively, and know how to move transactions forward without sacrificing diligence or the client's best interests.
You thrive in a structured, results-driven environment where ownership, accountability, and execution are non-negotiable. You understand the importance of meeting deadlines, delivering measurable results, maintaining clear communication, and operating effectively within an established team and organizational structure.
While the role is currently part-time, expectations around performance, professionalism, and accountability remain consistent.
Above all, you think like an advisor, execute like a dealmaker, and advocate like an owner.
What Success Looks Like
- Clients receive clear, strategic guidance throughout their acquisition journey.
- Acquisition opportunities are evaluated objectively and aligned with each buyer's objectives.
- Transactions progress efficiently through defined milestones, with risks and obstacles addressed proactively.
- Clients experience consistent, responsive, high-quality communication.
- Qualified buyers successfully acquire businesses that align with their financial and operational goals.
- The advisor maintains strong ownership of their client portfolio, transaction pipeline, and stakeholder relationships.
- Deadlines, reporting requirements, and operational deliverables are consistently met.
- Performance is measured through execution, client satisfaction, transaction progression, and the quality of acquisition outcomes.
- x10 consistently delivers exceptional client experiences, strong acquisition outcomes, and lasting client relationships.
