What they need
Business Administration Apprentice
Start your career by becoming part of something bigger
Every construction project relies on more than the people working on site. Behind the machinery, materials and skilled workforce, there is a team keeping everything organised, information recorded accurately and communication moving between the people who make projects happen.
That is where you come in.
Our client is a leading construction contractor in the South West, with over 40 years of experience in the industry. They work with a wide range of clients across sectors including highways and infrastructure, retail, education and leisure, delivering projects built around quality, reliability and strong working relationships.
They are now looking for a Business Administration Apprentice to join their office team and begin building the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for a career in business administration.
This is an opportunity to earn while you learn, gain a recognised Level 3 qualification and discover how a successful construction business operates from the inside.
You do not need previous administration experience. What matters most is your attitude, your willingness to learn and your ability to take pride in doing things properly.
The role
As a Business Administration Apprentice, you will become an important part of the day to day running of the business. You will learn how to manage information, organise records, communicate professionally and provide the administrative support that helps site teams and colleagues keep work moving in the right direction.
Your responsibilities will grow as your knowledge and confidence develop. You will gain practical experience while working towards your Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship, putting what you learn into practice in a real working environment.
You will not simply be learning from a textbook. You will see how administration connects with construction projects, site operations, customer relationships and the wider business.
What will you be doing?
Your day to day responsibilities will include:
- Providing general administrative support to the office team
- Answering telephone calls and responding to emails professionally
- Managing, organising and maintaining construction site paperwork
- Inputting information accurately and keeping records up to date
- Organising documents and maintaining effective filing systems
- Supporting site teams with the information and administrative assistance they need
- Helping colleagues keep paperwork, information and tasks organised so that work can progress efficiently
- Learning about the construction industry, the services our client provides and how the different parts of the business work together
As you develop, you will be trusted with more responsibility and encouraged to build your independence, improve your skills and become a confident member of the team.
What you will bring
You do not need to have worked in an office before. This apprenticeship is about developing your ability and giving you the opportunity to build a career.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has good written English and can communicate clearly and professionally
- Is organised and takes care to record information accurately
- Has good attention to detail and understands the importance of getting things right
- Is comfortable learning new systems, processes and ways of working
- Is a quick learner who asks questions, takes feedback on board and is keen to improve
- Has a positive attitude, a good work ethic and a willingness to get involved
- Is interested in understanding how a construction business operates, with an interest in the industry being a real advantage
- Can work well with others and build positive working relationships with colleagues
- Holds a full driving licence and has access to transport, or has a reliable way of getting to and from the office, as the office location is not served by bus routes
You might be leaving education and looking for your first step into the world of work. You might already have experience from another job and want to develop new skills in a different industry. Perhaps you have strong organisational skills but have never had the opportunity to use them in a professional office environment.
Whatever your starting point, if you are reliable, willing to learn and ready to take your development seriously, this could be the opportunity for you.
Why join our client?
A recognised qualification and real experience
You will work towards a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship while gaining practical experience in a real business. You will develop skills that can support your future career, from professional communication and data management to organisation, administration and teamwork.
Learn an industry from the inside
Construction is about much more than what happens on site. You will gain an understanding of how office administration supports projects, site teams, clients and the wider business. If you are curious about how things work and enjoy learning new things, there will be plenty to discover.
Join a team where people matter
Our client has a strong, established workforce, with many employees staying with the business for more than ten years. That long service reflects the importance of good working relationships and a supportive team environment.
You will be joining a professional office where colleagues work together, help one another and take pride in what they do. You will have the opportunity to learn from people who understand the business and can help you develop along the way.
Build a foundation for your future
Completing your apprenticeship will give you a recognised qualification and practical workplace skills. Depending on your performance and the needs of the business, there may be opportunities to continue developing your career with our client.
Your opportunity starts here
A successful business needs people who care about the details, take responsibility for their work and understand that even the smallest task can make a difference to the bigger picture.
This apprenticeship is your opportunity to develop those qualities, gain a recognised qualification and become part of a team that helps construction projects run smoothly.
You do not need to know everything on day one. You need to be ready to learn, willing to contribute and motivated to make the most of the opportunity.
If that sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
