Business Administrator

We're Aquadec, a small, family-run commercial irrigation company that's been around for 25 years. Our wonderful Business Administrator is relocating, so we're on the hunt for someone great to step into her seat on our admin team. We love having a small team of part-time admin people — it makes us more resilient, helps our work flow, and makes work more enjoyable — and we're looking forward to finding the right person to keep that going.

Practical Stuff

• Flexible 32 hours per week

• $45-$55 per hour depending on experience

• Hybrid working — office-based initially in Smeaton Grange, then work-from-home flexibility a couple days a week

The Work Itself

You'll be managing our accounting systems, coordinating financial operations, handling everything from accounts payable to payroll reconciliation, and helping keep our business compliant. There's also a meaty project ahead: we're moving from MYOB to Xero and looking for job management software, and we need someone who can help lead that change, not just follow instructions through it. It's comprehensive work (we're transparent about that!), but you'll have clear guides, training schedules, and a supportive team.

The Person We're Looking For

• Has solid accounting/bookkeeping experience and knows their way around MYOB/Xero and Google Workspace

• Is genuinely tech-savvy — comfortable learning new systems and confident helping lead a software transition, not just using what's already set up

• Thinks a few steps ahead: when something's asked of you, you've often already thought of it, or you just say “yep, I've got it”

• Is someone the team can trust completely — if we’re out and something comes up, we know it'll be picked up and handled well

• Pays attention to the details that matter without getting lost in perfectionism

• Can track their own capacity and speak up when they need support — and is honest about what they are and aren't up for

• Takes responsibility for their work without needing someone looking over their shoulder

• Is comfortable creating short video guides (you'll hear your own voice, so that needs to be okay!)

• Doesn't take themselves too seriously but takes the work seriously
