What they need
About The Company Lotus People is partnering with an established national organisation to appoint a process documentation professional in Melbourne. Following significant operational change, the organisation is strengthening how knowledge is captured, maintained and shared across its teams. It offers a down-to-earth, collaborative environment where people are encouraged to ask questions, challenge assumptions and find practical solutions. As responsibilities continue to evolve, this role provides an opportunity to bring greater clarity and structure to day-to-day operations and create documentation that supports lasting business value.
About The Role This is a hands-on, office-based assignment focused on discovering how operational work is carried out and documenting it in a clear, practical way. You will work closely with operational stakeholders, capturing knowledge through conversations, interviews and observation, then turning it into useful standard operating procedures (SOPs), process maps and supporting materials. The role suits someone who is comfortable working without a complete roadmap, can investigate gaps independently and knows how to identify sensible next steps. You will also help establish a reliable source of truth within the organisation’s knowledge management system.
The position is based in Melbourne CBD and is offered as an initial six-month temporary assignment, with potential to extend depending on business requirements. An immediate start is preferred. The hourly rate is $57–$62 plus superannuation, depending on experience. Working Holiday Visa candidates are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications You will bring experience in business analysis, process documentation, project support, operations or a related role. Demonstrated ability to develop SOPs, procedures, work instructions or other operational documentation is important. You will be an effective communicator who can engage confidently with stakeholders at different levels and translate verbal explanations into accurate, easy-to-follow written materials.
Strong investigative skills, attention to detail and organisation will help you succeed. You should be proactive and self-directed, comfortable asking thoughtful questions, testing assumptions and working through ambiguity. Experience in contact centres, operational teams or organisations undergoing change will be highly regarded. Familiarity with LivePro or another knowledge management platform is advantageous, but not essential.
Responsibilities
- Map and document current-state business processes across operational teams.
- Capture undocumented knowledge through stakeholder interviews, discussions and observation.
- Convert informal practices and verbal knowledge into clear, practical SOPs, process maps and work instructions.
- Document bespoke workflows within the organisation’s knowledge management system and maintain accurate, consistent records.
- Clarify process ownership, responsibilities and handovers across evolving teams.

- Bring information from multiple stakeholders together to build a complete and reliable picture of operations.
- Challenge assumptions constructively and highlight broader operational impacts where appropriate.
- Provide support for smaller operational improvement and coordination initiatives as priorities evolve.
Benefits
- Earn $57–$62 per hour plus superannuation, depending on experience.
- Take ownership of meaningful work with a direct, practical impact on business operations.
- Gain exposure to teams and processes across a national organisation.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and develop an in-depth understanding of how the business operates.
- Join a collaborative environment that values curiosity, initiative and constructive challenge.
- Work from a Melbourne CBD office with excellent public transport access.
- Begin with a six-month temporary assignment, with the possibility of extension.
