Business Analyst - NMS, VM Replacement, IP Migration & Streaming Telemetry

We are hiring a permanent and contractual associate for the role - Business Analyst (BA). The BA is responsible for defining, validating, and managing requirements across multiple interrelated programmes, including NMS (Network Management System) deployment, VM (Virtual Machine) replacement, IP system migrations, and IP streaming telemetry enablement .

This role is delivery and feasibility-led , ensuring all requirements are grounded in real-world constraints including infrastructure readiness, device capability, system dependencies, migration sequencing, telemetry feasibility, and security controls.

This is a hands-on role that combines:

• Business Analysis capability (challenging, shaping, and governing scope)
• Execution ownership (producing high-quality structured artefacts)

The BA will play a critical role across Discovery, Design, and Migration phases , ensuring that deployment, telemetry enablement, and migration activities are executable, phased, and aligned to operational readiness.

Key Accountabilities:

Discovery & Feasibility (Primary Accountability)

Lead identification and validation of:

• NMS deployment requirements and integration points
• VM replacement scope (workloads, hosting strategy, dependencies)
• IP system migration use cases (legacy → target state)
• Telemetry use cases and required sensor/data flows

Assess feasibility across:

• Infrastructure readiness (compute, network, storage)
• Device and platform capability (telemetry sensors, NMS compatibility)
• Application and vendor constraints
• Security, firewall, and connectivity requirements

Own and produce:

• Feasibility matrices (platform × application × use case)
• Migration wave strategy (Day1 / Day2)
• Identification of gaps, exclusions, and workarounds

Requirements & Artefact Ownership (Hands-on)

Personally develop and maintain:

• Functional and non-functional requirements
• Telemetry use case catalogue (mapped to platforms/devices)
• Requirements traceability matrix (RTM)
• Application and system dependency mapping

Ensure structured mapping of:

• Application → infrastructure → migration wave
• Use case → telemetry sensor → platform → delivery phase

Produce MECE, high-quality, decision-ready artefacts supporting governance and delivery.

Scope & Governance

Define and enforce scope boundaries:

In scope:

• NMS enablement and integration
• VM replacement and hosting transition
• IP system migration planning and execution
• Telemetry enablement (device-level data collection and transport)

Out of scope:

• Downstream analytics, dashboards, or enrichment
• Deep engineering build/configuration
• Full automation integration

Actively challenge:

• Scope expansion beyond agreed delivery
• Misalignment between business requirements and feasibility constraints

Migration Planning & Execution

Support structured migration planning across:

• Application rationalisation and grouping
• Migration wave design and sequencing
• Cutover and rollback strategy

Ensure:

• Mapping of systems to migration waves
• Alignment with operational windows
• Dependency identification across NMS, IP, and infrastructure

Support:

• Pre-migration readiness checks
• Cutover execution
• Post-migration validation and hypercare stabilisation

Telemetry & Data Flow Enablement

Support definition of telemetry architecture, including:

• Data ingestion models (direct vs pipeline-based)
• Sensor path mapping and validation
• Data flow from device → collector → platform

Ensure all telemetry requirements are:

• Feasible based on device/platform capability
• Aligned to transport and ingestion constraints
• Clearly distinguished from downstream use cases

Translate telemetry capability into realistic delivery scope and phases.

Technical Feasibility Translation

Work closely with engineering and vendors to:

• Validate NMS integration and platform compatibility
• Confirm telemetry sensor availability and behaviour
• Assess VM replacement and infrastructure readiness

Translate technical constraints into:

• Business impact
• Delivery prioritisation
• Risk and mitigation strategies

Stakeholder Engagement & Alignment

Engage and align stakeholders across:

• Network Engineering (IP, NMS)
• Infrastructure & Cloud
• Cyber Security
• Operations / SysOps
• Vendors (e.g., Nokia, platform providers)

Lead workshops to:

• Define requirements and scope
• Validate feasibility
• Align on priorities and risks

Security & Compliance Integration

Incorporate into requirements:

• Firewall and network access constraints
• Identity and access controls
• Regulatory and cyber security requirements

Ensure all deliverables are:

• Deployable within approved frameworks
• Validated with security stakeholders prior to migration

Delivery Support Across Programme Lifecycle

Support full lifecycle:

Mobilise → Discovery → Design → Build → Pilot → Migrate → Scale → BAU Handover

Including:

• Requirements clarification during build
• Telemetry validation during pilot
• Migration execution support
• Traceability across all phases

Ensure minimal rework and strong delivery alignment .

Experience & Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a BA in telecoms, network, or infrastructure programmes
• Experience in large-scale, multi-phase delivery environments
• Demonstrated experience in application deployment and migration
• Demonstrated experience in infrastructure transformation (e.g. VM exit, cloud migration)
• Demonstrated experience in telemetry/observability programmes is highly desirable
