Business Analyst – Software & Digital Solutions

ConInnova Limited is a New Zealand-based company specialising in construction consultancy, digital innovation, and software solutions for the construction industry.

We are expanding our technology team in Auckland to support the continued development of our software products, including CivCost , our construction cost management and project management SaaS platform.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Business Analyst who can work closely with stakeholders, software developers, and quality assurance teams to translate business requirements into practical software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyse, document, and validate business and functional requirements.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to identify business needs and define software requirements.
• Facilitate stakeholder meetings, requirements-gathering workshops, and client discussions.
• Prepare business requirements documentation, functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Analyse and map existing and proposed business processes using BPMN, flowcharts, and other process modelling techniques.
• Collaborate with software developers, QA engineers, and project teams throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews.
• Coordinate and support user acceptance testing (UAT), requirements validation, and testing sign-off.
• Use data analysis and SQL queries to support business decisions and software requirements.
• Maintain requirements documentation and project information using Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Excel.
• Support project coordination and timely delivery of software development activities.
• Identify opportunities for business process improvement, system enhancements, and digital transformation.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Computing, Information Technology, Business Information Systems, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in business analysis, preferably within the software development or IT industry.
• Demonstrated experience in requirements gathering, analysis, documentation, and stakeholder management.
• Experience preparing user stories, functional requirements, and business process documentation.
• Practical knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
• Experience with BPMN, flowcharts, and business process mapping.
• Experience collaborating with software development and quality assurance teams.
• Understanding of user acceptance testing (UAT), testing coordination, and requirements validation.
• Working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Excel, and SQL-based data analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.

Desirable Skills

• Experience working on SaaS platforms or enterprise software solutions.
• Understanding of digital transformation and business process improvement.
• Experience supporting multiple stakeholders and cross-functional software delivery teams.
• Exposure to construction management, project management, financial management, or commercial software applications.
• Ability to translate complex business needs into clear technical and functional requirements.
