Business Development & Client Relationships Manager
KFM Welding & Engineering | KFM Heavy Haulage
Albany, WA | Full Time
KFM is a growing WA-based business servicing the mining, civil, agricultural, transport, construction and industrial sectors.
Our capabilities include structural steel and sheds, prefabricated steel service pits, custom fabrication, sandblasting and protective coatings, transport equipment, heavy haulage and specialised machinery transport.
As KFM continues to grow, we're looking for a Business Development & Client Relationships Manager to take ownership of our client relationships and sales pipeline across both KFM Welding & Engineering and KFM Heavy Haulage.
About the Role
We're looking for someone who is great with people and highly organised behind the scenes.
You will manage the customer relationship and sales process from the initial enquiry through to a successful sale and continue building that relationship after the work is completed.
A typical opportunity will look like:
Lead → Contact Client → Gather Information → Estimating → Quote → Follow Up → Sale → Handover to Operations → Client Follow Up → Repeat Business
This is not a technical estimating role. Our estimating and technical team will prepare the detailed pricing and costing. Your role is to gather the right information, coordinate the quote, communicate with the client and ensure every opportunity is properly followed through.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to incoming enquiries and leads
- Contact clients to understand their requirements
- Regularly check in with existing and previous KFM customers
- Develop relationships with new prospective clients
- Visit customers onsite for meetings and catch-ups
- Identify upcoming projects and new business opportunities
- Keep clients updated on new KFM products, services and capabilities
- Promote KFM Heavy Haulage and identify transport opportunities
- Develop relationships across mining, civil, agriculture, transport and industrial sectors
- Gather information required by our estimating team
- Coordinate and prepare professional quotes using pricing supplied internally
- Send and present quotes to clients
- Follow up outstanding quotes and opportunities
- Progress opportunities through to a successful sale
- Cross-sell opportunities between KFM Welding & Engineering and KFM Heavy Haulage
- Follow up clients after completed projects and review their experience with KFM
- Maintain long-term client relationships and identify repeat work
- Proactively develop new business throughout WA
CRM, Administration & Organisation
Strong administration and organisational skills are essential for this position.
You will take ownership of KFM's CRM and sales pipeline, including:
- Recording every lead and opportunity
- Maintaining accurate customer details and notes
- Scheduling calls, meetings and follow-ups
- Keeping outstanding quotes organised
- Maintaining a clear next action for every opportunity
- Managing client emails and correspondence
- Preparing sales documentation and proposals
- Keeping management updated on the sales pipeline
- Ensuring no genuine opportunity is forgotten or allowed to go cold
Being good with people is only part of this role. Organisation, administration and consistent follow-through are equally important.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Confident and personable
- Highly organized
- Strong with administration and computer systems
- Excellent at building relationships
- Comfortable picking up the phone and talking to customers
- Professional in written and verbal communication
- Comfortable visiting clients onsite
- Proactive with follow-ups
- Able to manage multiple opportunities at once
- Able to manage their own schedule and workload
- Commercially minded
- Reliable and accountable
- Persistent without being pushy
- Comfortable working with CRM systems
- Someone who takes ownership and gets things done
Experience within mining, civil, construction, fabrication, agriculture, transport, heavy haulage, machinery or B2B sales would be highly regarded.
Industry experience is beneficial, but we're equally interested in finding someone with the right communication, Organisation and relationship-building skills.
What We Offer
- Company work vehicle
- Attractive pay package
- Fuel card
- Company phone
- Laptop
- Full-time position
- Support from our internal estimating and technical team
- Established customer base
- Multiple products and services to take to market
- Opportunity to work across both Engineering and Heavy Haulage
- Direct involvement with the Managing Director
- Opportunity to grow with an expanding WA business
What Success Looks Like
Every genuine lead is contacted. Every opportunity is recorded. Every quote is followed up. Existing customers are looked after and new relationships are continually developed.
Once a job is secured, you'll complete a clear handover to our Operations team and remain involved in the client relationship after the work is completed.
If you're good with people, strong with organization and enjoy turning relationships into long-term business, we'd like to hear from you.
