What they need

A hands-on internship supporting commercial projects, partner follow-up and market development.

Location: Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Working arrangement: On-site internship at Fooditive’s Rotterdam office

Hours: 32 hours per week

Duration: 6 months

Start date: As soon as possible

Allowance: €550 per month

About the internship

We are looking for a commercially minded and highly organised intern to support our business development and project activities. Under the guidance of Fooditive’s management team, you will research commercial opportunities, prepare meetings, organise project information and support the follow-up of agreed actions. You will gain practical exposure to B2B partnerships, market development and the commercialisation of food biotechnology.

Who we are looking for

We care about how you work, not where you come from. Background, age, gender, nationality and career path are not filters for us. The qualities that matter are these: you take ownership, you can be trusted to run with something and see it through, and you make the people around you better. If that sounds like you, we would like to meet you.

Main responsibilities

  • Research potential customers, strategic partners, manufacturers and market opportunities.
  • Prepare company, market and competitor research ahead of commercial discussions.
  • Support the preparation of presentations, partner materials, business cases and concise commercial briefs.
  • Maintain commercial opportunity and project trackers, including owners, deadlines and next steps.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, notes, action lists and follow-up summaries.
  • Support the tracking of open actions with customers and partners.
  • Keep CRM and stakeholder information structured and up to date.
  • Assist with commercial proposals, opportunity assessments and market-entry research.
  • Support project coordination and help ensure agreed actions and milestones are followed up.

What we are looking for

  • You are currently studying or have recently completed a degree in Business, International Business, Entrepreneurship, Strategy, Marketing, Economics, Food Business, Innovation Management or a related field.
  • You take ownership: you set your own next step rather than waiting to be told twice.
  • You work well unsupervised, comfortable making a call and equally comfortable flagging when you are stuck.
  • You bring people with you: you have organised, led or energised a team, society, club or side project.
  • You have taken at least one project or initiative from start to finish, and can tell us what you owned and what you would do differently.
  • Strong research, writing and communication skills in English.
  • Ability to organise information and work across several projects.
  • Confidence using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to turn complex or extensive information into clear, useful summaries.
  • Good attention to detail and a structured approach to project follow-up.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn, ask questions and collaborate with internal and external teams.
  • Legally eligible to undertake an internship in the Netherlands as an EU or EEA national, or through a valid permit.
  • Currently residing in the Netherlands and available to work on-site at Fooditive’s Rotterdam office.

Considered a plus

  • Experience using CRM or project-management tools.
  • Previous exposure to business development, commercial research or project coordination.
  • Interest in food technology, biotechnology or sustainable food production.

What we offer

  • Practical experience supporting real commercial and business-development projects.
  • Direct exposure to B2B partnerships, commercial discussions and market-development activities.
  • Experience working in a small international food biotechnology company.
  • Regular supervision, guidance and performance feedback from Fooditive’s management team.
  • Opportunities to strengthen your skills in commercial research, partner communication and project coordination.
  • A monthly internship allowance of €550.
  • A certificate of completion and, where appropriate, a personal recommendation based on performance.
