Drive Growth Across Northern Tasmania
We are a growing business and seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to establish and grow our presence in Northern Tasmania.
This is not a traditional sales role with an existing customer base. You'll be responsible for developing the territory from the ground up—identifying opportunities, winning new business, building strong customer relationships, and creating a sustainable sales pipeline.
In addition to driving business growth, you will take ownership of the day-to-day operational performance of our Hobart depot, ensuring efficient, safe, and customer-focused operations while supporting the continued expansion of the business.
About the Role
As the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving growth throughout Southern Tasmania while leading the operations of our Hobart depot.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing a territory growth strategy.
- Identifying and securing new business opportunities.
- Building strong relationships with key decision-makers across a range of industries.
- Generating new customer accounts and developing long-term partnerships.
- Conducting market and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities.
- Building and maintaining an active sales pipeline while providing regular activity reporting.
- Representing the business at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the Hobart depot, ensuring safety, efficiency, service delivery, and operational excellence.
- Coordinating depot resources, inventory, equipment, and facilities to support customer requirements.
- Leading and supporting depot staff to deliver exceptional customer service and operational performance.
- Working closely with operations, customer service, and the national sales team to deliver outstanding customer outcomes.
- Working independently while collaborating closely with the national leadership team.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven success in business development and new account acquisition.
- Experience building a customer base, territory, or market from the ground up.
- Strong prospecting, networking, and relationship-building skills.
- A genuine passion for winning new business.
- A track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Experience managing operational activities, depot operations, or service delivery.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- High levels of initiative, resilience, and self-motivation.
- The ability to work autonomously and balance commercial and operational priorities.
What's on Offer
- Opportunity to build and grow a new territory.
- High level of autonomy and flexibility.
- Support from an established national business.
- Career development opportunities as the Tasmanian operation expands.
- Company vehicle and tools of trade (where applicable).
If you're a motivated sales professional who enjoys opening doors, building relationships, and driving growth, we'd love to hear from you.
