What they need
Our client is a respected supplier to the New Zealand construction industry with a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and customer service.
They are now seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to lead growth within a key national market segment. This strategic role combines relationship management, market development, and commercial leadership, offering the opportunity to influence national partnerships, drive market share, and help shape the future direction of the business.
About the role:
This is a strategic, national-level business development position focused on driving growth within a key residential construction segment. You'll take ownership of developing customer engagement strategies, growing market share, and strengthening relationships with some of the industry's most influential stakeholders. Working closely with internal teams, you'll play an important role in shaping how the business approaches and serves this market.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing growth strategies that increase market penetration, customer engagement, and revenue across the residential construction sector
- Building and managing key national relationships with Group Home Builders, developers, contractors, and other major industry stakeholders, including negotiating commercial agreements and partnership opportunities
- Creating demand and managing opportunities through the full sales lifecycle, from early engagement and specification influence through to project conversion and account growth
- Collaborating with Product, Marketing, Technical, Specification, and Sales teams to maximise market opportunities and deliver exceptional customer outcomes
- Providing market intelligence, maintaining a strong pipeline through CRM management, and representing the business nationally through customer visits, industry engagement, and travel as required
About you:
- You have proven success in business development, strategic account management, or market development within the construction, building products, or related sectors
- You have a strong understanding of the residential construction market and Group Home Builder channel, with established industry relationships highly advantageous
- You are a strategic and commercially minded professional who can identify opportunities, influence stakeholders, negotiate agreements, and drive long-term growth outcomes
- You take a consultative approach to sales, positioning value-based solutions while building and managing key customer relationships
- You are self-motivated and comfortable operating autonomously, with excellent planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills
- You are ambitious, collaborative, and enjoy working cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Technical, and Sales teams to achieve shared business goals
Benefits:
On offer is a highly competitive package including a base salary, company vehicle, and performance-based bonus structure.
More importantly, this is a rare opportunity to step into a newly created role with genuine strategic influence. You'll be given ownership of a key growth segment, the autonomy to shape your approach, and the support of an experienced leadership team invested in your success.
If you're seeking a role where you can build something meaningful, influence national customer relationships, and play a significant part in driving future growth, this opportunity deserves serious consideration.
