What they need

Who Are We

Quick Release (QR_) is a subsidiary of Alten Group located in Australia. Alten Group is a worldwide leader in Engineering services (54,000+ employees) with operations in over 30 different countries.

We’re a global actor with a local presence with committed engineers working across the country. Our engineers carry out complex and highly technical projects throughout the product development chain of the most prestigious companies in sectors such as Automotive, Aerospace & Defence, Energy, Manufacturing, Public Sector and Life Sciences.

QR_ is currently expanding its activity in Australia and we are looking for a Business Development Manager to join and and help drive growth across our major accounts.

Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Winning new business: Take full ownership of business development to start with. Identify, target and open new accounts across defence, rail and adjacent sectors, from major primes and operators through to their Tier-2 supply chains. Build pipeline from scratch and convert it into signed clients.
  • Managing and growing a key strategic account : Own the relationship with our anchor automotive client, protect our position against competitors, and extend the engagement from product data management into broader engineering services.
  • Building the Melbourne engineering bench: Work with the QR delivery team to recruit and staff consultants against won work, and shape offers, rates and proposals.

Who are you (Experience)

You're an engineer who has already made the move into consulting, sales and/or account management. You're not a career salesperson and not a pure engineer.

You'll bring:

  • An engineering degree (mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, aerospace, systems or similar)
  • 5+ years' experience, including time in a management consultancy, engineering consultancy or engineering services firm with client-facing accountability
  • Demonstrated business development or account management: you've carried a target, written proposals or grown an account
  • Based in Melbourne, or committed to relocating

Highly regarded:

  • An existing network in Victorian defence or rail (primes, Tier-2s or the engineering firms serving them)
  • A background in engineering services, technical resourcing or management consulting
  • A track record of building something, such as a practice, an office or an account, rather than inheriting a mature book

Nice to have:

  • Ex-ADF or Defence industry background
  • Automotive product development exposure
  • High-level competitive sport (state or national), a signal of drive and resilience

You'll show: energy and self-starting momentum, strong business acumen (margin, rates, utilisation and how a services P&L works), clear communication with engineers and executives alike, an analytical approach to account planning, and the ambition to build a business and grow into running Melbourne.

What we offer you:

Every individual is equally valuable in building tomorrow’s world today at Alten/QR_. We meet future challenges by supporting our clients’ projects and enabling our people to reach their full potential. We do so by offering technological challenges, fulfilling opportunities, inspiring togetherness and the possibility to contribute to a sustainable future.

We are convinced that your development is driven by your passion. By being active in several different industries, we can offer a wide range of assignments and an opportunity to influence both the world around you and your own development.

We value diversity:

We take pride in our diversity; we respect and value multiple approaches and points of view. We challenge inequality in all its forms, in others, and especially in ourselves. We are fully committed to this in our actions as well as in our words.

As an equal opportunities' employer, Quick Release will never discriminate on the basis of gender, race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic background, marital status, or disability status.

Our culture is created less by what we do and more by who we are. Our talented people and their shared values are our most valuable assets, and the reason why we built QR into the global business it is today.

Other offers great for you!
