Business Development Manager (Environmental)
- Location: Rotorua (Flexible work-from-home options available)
- Work Type: Part-time (2-3 days per week, with clear path to full-time)
- Remuneration: Attractive package tailored to your experience
About Us
Tipu Environmental is the environmental arm of Te Paiaka Lands Trust, based in beautiful Rotorua. Our mission is to protect and enhance our native bush and plant environments. We achieve this through two core initiatives: a large-scale pest management programme and an extensive riparian and wetland planting programme.
About the Role
We are seeking a driven Environmental Business Development Manager to spearhead revenue growth across our core environmental programmes. Working closely with our Environment Manager, you will expand our project pipeline and secure diverse funding streams.
A key focus of this role is pioneering our Nature Credits system in partnership with the Manaaki Kaimai Mamaku Trust. This is an exciting, international nature credit pilot programme that allows commercial businesses to fund and align with vital environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Grow the Pipeline: Collaborate with the Environment Manager to plan projects, map out implementation timelines, and secure funding.
- Nurture Relationships: Build and maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders, funders, local government, and commercial clients.
- Drive Innovation: Establish and promote the Nature Credits system to internal teams, external funders, and business clients.
- Report on Progress: Deliver comprehensive monthly monitoring updates and strategic reports directly to the Board.
About You
- Commercial Savvy: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to confidently navigate commercial conversations and build fast rapport.
- Tech-Minded: Highly technology-savvy, adaptable to new digital systems, and proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Self-Driven: A proactive, organised professional with strong initiative, excellent attention to detail, and a practical approach to problem-solving.
- Industry Knowledge: Prior experience or knowledge of plant nursery operations and environmental projects is a distinct advantage.
What’s on Offer
- Growth Potential: A 3-day-per-week position designed to scale into a full-time role as you successfully develop the business.
- True Flexibility: Enjoy a healthy work-life balance with a blend of office-based and work-from-home flexibility.
- Great Culture: Join an inclusive, purpose-driven team environment that genuinely celebrates collective success.
