About the role

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager – NSW to drive business growth, develop key accounts and identify new opportunities for Viking Industrial across New South Wales.

Reporting to the National Sales Manager, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for growing Viking Industrial’s presence across generator sales, hire and servicing within the industrial, mining, infrastructure and construction sectors.

Based in Homebush West, NSW, the role will involve regular travel throughout the state, including Sydney, the Hunter/Newcastle region, Illawarra and regional NSW. You will develop and execute territory plans, build strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, identify major projects and work closely with Viking Industrial’s sales, rental, operations and marketing teams to convert opportunities into sustainable business growth.

The position will suit a proactive, commercially focused sales professional who is comfortable managing their own territory, developing new business and building long-term relationships across a broad range of industries.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify major projects across NSW (e.g. Sydney infrastructure, Hunter and Central West mining, utilities and water, data centres and commercial construction), track progress and report back to the Sales Manager. Ensure HubSpot CRM is used for project tracking and team collaboration.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key NSW clients, including tier-1 and tier-2 contractors, mine operators, utilities, EPCs and electrical contractors, aiming for 20% growth in key accounts per annum. Develop a tiered customer list and keep records up to date.
  • Develop and execute a NSW territory plan covering Sydney, Hunter/Newcastle, Illawarra and regional NSW, growing existing accounts and identifying new opportunities. Regularly meet with the Sydney operations manager and the marketing team to align efforts.
  • Ensure all sales KPIs provided by the National Sales Manager are met on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, driving consistent performance and goal alignment.
  • Track and report on sales activities, including POs, quotes and client interactions. Participate in weekly and fortnightly meetings with sales, operations and rental teams to ensure alignment on project needs and opportunities.
  • Identify hire opportunities alongside sales, and hand rental work over to the rental team in line with Viking's sales-to-rental handover process so equipment, pricing and site requirements are captured accurately.
  • Promote the company's value proposition, support and upskill junior sales team members, and ensure all quotes meet established standards.
  • Work closely with operations and rental departments to ensure all project data is current and accurate. Plan travel, site visits and events efficiently to optimise resources.

About you

  • Strong understanding of power generation equipment and industrial services.
  • Proven B2B sales or business development experience in NSW, ideally in infrastructure, mining, construction or equipment hire.
  • Established network across NSW contractors, mine operators and utilities (highly regarded).
  • Proficient in CRM tools, especially HubSpot.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments and locations.
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly across NSW.
  • White Card (Construction Induction) or willingness to obtain.
