Location: London office (Farringdon / Chancery Lane), covering Greater London and within the M25

Salary: Dependent upon experience

Role summary

The New Business Development Manager wins and grows on-trade wine accounts across London, focusing on large or high-value single-site venues and small-to-medium groups of restaurants, bars and hotels.

Taking a consultative approach rather than a traditional sales one, the role finds and converts new customers, looks after a small portfolio of existing accounts, and helps venues build wine lists that work for them. It works closely with the wider London & National On-Trade team, and represents Boutinot and our producers at tastings and events.

Main purpose of the role

To accelerate profitable growth in the London on-trade by winning, developing and keeping high-value accounts that suit our brand and values.

Key responsibilities

New business development

  • Proactively find and convert new on-trade wine accounts, including restaurants, bars, hotels and venues.
  • Lead prospecting activity, including meetings, tastings and tailored proposals.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline to meet and exceed new business targets.
  • Work with the Wine Strategy Consultant Lead to develop and deliver growth strategies.
  • Keep customer and pipeline information accurate and up to date in our CRM.

Account management & growth

  • Manage and grow a small portfolio of existing accounts, focusing on retention and range development.
  • Provide excellent service, including wine list curation, staff wine training and ongoing support.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen relationships and extend the range customers buy from us.

Commercial impact

  • Work with the wider team to deliver revenue and margin goals.
  • Negotiate commercial terms with confidence and clarity, positioning yourself as a trusted consultant rather than selling on price.
  • Use data and market insight to inform decisions and spot growth opportunities.

Brand representation & events

  • Represent Boutinot and our producers at tastings, trade shows and customer events.
  • Deliver engaging wine training to customers and internal teams, with support from the wider on-trade team.
  • Champion new launches and seasonal campaigns.

This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. The role works across a range of internal departments, and duties may develop over time.

Person specification

This is a field-based sales role, spending full days on the road with customers. It would suit someone with on-trade wine sales experience who enjoys winning new business and building long-term customer relationships.

Essential

  • Experience of winning new business in a sales or account management role.
  • Wine knowledge to at least WSET Level 2 standard, with the ability to progress to Level 3 with training.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the confidence to negotiate terms.
  • Confident with spreadsheets and data: able to analyse numbers, spot trends and identify potential problems.
  • Based within, or within easy reach of, the M25 / Greater London.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Experience in the on-trade, selling to restaurants, bars, hotels or hospitality groups.
  • WSET Level 2 qualification or higher.
  • Access to a car.
  • Experience of delivering wine training or presentations.
  • Experience using a CRM system.
