What they need

About Us:

Global Energy Services Alliance, LLC (GESA) | A Solaris Company | NYSE: SEI is a leading service provider in the Energy and Oil & Gas industry, dedicated to delivering high-quality solutions to our clients. We pride ourselves on our commitment to excellence, innovation, and teamwork. Our mission is to empower the energy sector with top-notch services that enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.

Position Overview:

Global Energy Services Alliance is seeking a Business Development Manager based in Houston, Texas (or remote) to own the sales function for new customers on a global basis. This is a hunter role focused on opening doors: identifying, qualifying, and winning first business with customers and markets where GESA has no established relationship, and converting them into repeat customers.

The Business Development Manager owns the new customer from first contact through the initial scopes of work, and then fosters and grows that account for approximately 6 to 8 months until the relationship is mature, repeatable, and self-sustaining. At that point, the account is transitioned to the appropriate regional Services Sales Account Manager through a structured handover, freeing the Business Development Manager to pursue the next set of new customers.

Beyond winning individual accounts, the Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying new markets, regions, service lines, and go-to-market strategies that GESA is not currently operating in, and for building the business case to enter them. The role also leads GESA’s participation in the global conference, industry event, and marketing landscape — researching where GESA should be present, recommending which events to engage, and representing the company’s capabilities to prospective customers.

Target scope spans GESA’s core service offerings for Aeroderivative Gas Turbines, Heavy Duty Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, and Generators — including outage support, field service, parts, repairs, upgrades, and long-term service agreements. The role requires the ability to build complex sales proposals, read and negotiate commercial terms, and work cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Execution, Supply Chain, and Finance to deliver against both internal and external performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

New Customer Acquisition & Market Development

  • Own the sales function for new customers globally: prospecting, qualifying, and winning first business with accounts outside GESA’s established customer base.
  • Research and prioritize target markets, installed base populations, and end-user segments (power generation, oil & gas, industrial, IPP, data centers, and utilities) to find new opportunities.
  • Generate demand through outbound prospecting, referrals, agent and channel networks, and industry events.
  • Qualify opportunities rigorously against GESA capabilities, capacity, risk appetite, and margin expectations before committing resources to a pursuit.
  • Identify and develop new service offerings and routes to market that expand GESA’s global reach.
  • Seek out new markets, geographies, customer segments, and equipment populations that GESA does not currently serve, and assess them for fit, size, competitive landscape, and barriers to entry.
  • Develop and propose new commercial strategies, service models, and market entry approaches and present the business case to executive leadership.
  • Pilot and validate new strategies with early customers, then document what works so successful approaches can be repeated across the organization.
  • Monitor competitor activity, pricing trends, and market drivers, and feed that intelligence back to sales and executive leadership.

Industry Events, Conferences & Market Presence

  • Research global conferences, trade shows, industry forums, technical symposiums, and marketing opportunities where GESA can display its capabilities and network with prospective customers.
  • Serve as the company lead for reviewing event opportunities: evaluating audience, attending customer base, cost, competitor presence, and expected return and recommending which events GESA should engage.
  • Own the end-to-end execution of approved events: registration, booth or sponsorship arrangements, speaking or technical paper submissions, logistics, collateral, and giveaways.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and leadership on messaging, capability displays, presentation materials, and branding to ensure a consistent and professional GESA presence.
  • Attend events as GESA’s representative: working the floor, delivering capability presentations, and generating qualified leads.
  • Build and maintain an annual global events calendar with budget, deadlines, and ownership, and manage it against the business development plan.
  • Capture, log, and follow up on all leads generated at each event, and report attendance outcomes and return on investment back to leadership.
  • Maintain relationships with industry associations, OEM networks, and user groups to keep GESA visible in the markets it serves and the ones it intends to enter.

Opportunity Capture & Proposal Development

  • Lead the development of technical and commercial proposals for new customers, coordinating inputs from Operations, Engineering, Execution, Parts, and Supply Chain.
  • Build cost estimates and pricing strategies that balance competitiveness against target margin, and secure the required internal approvals.
  • Structure first-time offerings (T&M, fixed price, milestone-based, and trial or pilot scopes) that lower the barrier to entry for a new customer while protecting GESA’s position.
  • Ensure all proposals meet internal quality standards, branding guidelines, risk policies, and version control practices before submission.
  • Manage bid schedules, clarifications, customer Q&A, and post-submission follow-up through to award.

New Account Incubation & Growth (6–8 Months)

  • Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for each newly won customer through the initial 6 to 8 month incubation period.
  • Drive repeat business within the incubation window, converting a first transactional scope into a recurring pattern of inquiries, quotes, and awards.
  • Build durable relationships at multiple levels of the new customer organization, including plant and maintenance management, procurement, engineering, and executive sponsors.
  • Map the customer’s installed base, outage schedules, budget cycles, and decision-making process, and document it for the receiving account manager.
  • Ensure flawless delivery of the first scopes by staying engaged with Operations and Execution, early performance sets the tone for the entire relationship.
  • Resolve early commercial issues, change orders, and escalations personally to establish GESA’s credibility with the customer.

Internal Coordination & Execution Support

  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering, and Execution teams to confirm technical feasibility, resource availability, and delivery commitments before making them to the customer.
  • Prepare and deliver complete commercial handover packages for execution, covering contract terms, scope, risks, deliverables, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in kickoff and handover meetings with Project Managers, Operations, and Finance.
  • Support onboarding of new customers into GESA systems: vendor registration, prequalification, supplier portals, HSE documentation, and billing setup.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical discipline; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within the rotating equipment, power generation, or Oil & Gas services sector.
  • Demonstrated success in new customer acquisition, opening accounts from a cold start and converting them into repeat business.
  • Demonstrated technical familiarity with Aeroderivative Gas Turbines, Heavy Duty Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, and Generators, and the aftermarket services that support them (outages, field service, parts, repairs, and upgrades).
  • Ability to build complex, multi-scope sales proposals and defend pricing and value with technically sophisticated customers.
  • Strong commercial acumen: able to read, mark up, and negotiate contract terms and conditions, and to recognize risk in customer documentation.
  • Experience coordinating across internal functions such as Operations, Engineering, Execution, Supply Chain, Legal, and Finance to deliver a bid and execute a contract.
  • Experience evaluating and entering new markets, and building a business case for a strategy the company is not yet pursuing.
  • Experience representing a company at conferences, trade shows, and industry events, including planning, booth or sponsorship management, and lead follow-up.
  • Comfort operating globally across multiple time zones, cultures, and regulatory environments.
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar CRM/ERP platforms; strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Self-directed and disciplined, with the ability to manage a global territory and a remote working arrangement without constant oversight.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling customer information, pricing, and commercial data.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States; must hold a passport permitting frequent international travel.

Travel Requirements:

  • Expected travel of approximately 40-50% on a global basis, including customer sites, plants, trade shows, and industry events.
  • International travel across multiple regions, with the ability to obtain visas as required.
  • Periodic travel to GESA facilities in Texas or Turkey for business reviews, training, and internal coordination.
  • Willingness to travel on short notice in response to customer opportunities, outages, and bid deadlines.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive base salary with a performance-based sales incentive plan.
  • A global mandate with the autonomy to build GESA’s next generation of customers.
  • A collaborative, technically strong organization with direct access to Operations, Engineering, and Execution leadership.
  • Flexibility to work from our Houston, Texas office or remotely.

Global Energy Services Alliance, LLC is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
