Business Development Manager — Renewables & BESS Aggregation Japan

Second Foundation Japan is a fast-growing energy trading group building the leading independent aggregation platform for renewable and battery storage assets in Japan. We work with Japanese and international asset owners — developers, funds, leasing companies and asset managers — who hold large FIT and non-FIT solar and wind portfolios, and increasingly, investors moving into BESS (battery energy storage) projects.

We're hiring a Business Development Manager to lead our commercial effort: winning new renewables and BESS aggregation mandates, and building the long-term, trusted relationships that make Second Foundation the partner of choice for serious asset owners entering the Japanese market.

What you'll do

• Own new business development for our aggregation services — from first conversation to signed mandate.
• Build and manage a pipeline of Japanese and international asset owners: developers, funds, leasing companies, and asset managers.
• Represent Second Foundation as one of the leading aggregators in the market — credibly explaining complex FIT/FIP, JEPX, EPRX, and other revenue mechanics to sophisticated counterparties.
• Build trusted, long-term relationships that lead to repeat business and referrals, not just single transactions.
• Juggle multiple live deals and relationships at once, with the discipline to keep them all moving.
• Work closely with our technical and delivery teams to shape proposals and ensure what we sell is what we deliver.

What you bring

• A strong sales track record — ideally in energy, infrastructure, financial services, or another complex B2B environment — with genuine hunger to win new business.
• The intellectual horsepower to understand and confidently discuss a technically complex product or service.
• An owner's mindset — you treat the business as your own and don't wait to be told what to do.
• Excellent relationship-building skills with senior stakeholders at asset owners, funds, and developers.
• Fluent, native-level Japanese, plus strong business English to work with our international clients and team.
• Comfort operating in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment across multiple entities and workstreams.
