What they need
WorldFirst is looking for a Business Development Manager to drive user and revenue growth across Emerging Markets, with a focus on Indonesia. The role combines building partnerships with ecommerce platforms, financial institutions, associations and communities with cross-functional project work alongside our international Product and Service teams.
Job Description
Growth strategy
- Own user and revenue growth across Emerging Markets, with a focus on Indonesia, by formulating and implementing growth strategies based on client and market insights. Leverage user growth tools and product incentives to drive new user acquisition and engagement.
Cross-functional projects
- Collaborate with International Product and International Service teams (e.g. Legal, Compliance, Customer Service, Onboarding) to define, develop, improve and implement processes, policies and system-related solutions.
- Drive business requirements that address issues, supported by clear implementation strategies focused on solving client pain points.
- Provide insights, execute recommendations and drive implementation on cross-functional projects. This includes gathering business requirements for tech builds, drafting business requirement documents, process mapping and re-engineering, and project management.
Partnerships
- Acquire, manage and maintain key partner relationships with ecommerce platforms, companies, financial institutions and associations across Emerging Markets. Work closely with these partners to drive client referrals into the WorldFirst business, through arrangements that may include referral and affiliate partnerships.
- Connect with, manage and maintain key partner relationships with relevant communities to promote WorldFirst brand awareness and keep WorldFirst top of mind among community members.
- Stay in regular contact with our partner network, providing feedback on any issues they face and delivering solutions to help them overcome their pain points.
- Represent WorldFirst in a wide variety of settings and locations, including trade shows, partner webinars and marketing activities.
Partner onboarding and enablement
- Work closely with internal teams across multiple disciplines to ensure the smooth and successful onboarding and activation of partners, including securing buy-in from senior stakeholders across an expanding portfolio of large-scale partnerships.
- Collaborate with partners and internal teams to produce relevant marketing materials, and to assess product solution requirements and on-site and remote partner training and support needs.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the cross-border payments landscape, with 6-7+ years of experience as a Business Development Manager in the cross-border business.
- Proven track record in a consultative sales environment, selling payment solutions into cross-border ecosystems and delivering against and exceeding demanding targets.
- Ability to work across organisational boundaries, navigate ambiguity and build internal networks that break down barriers and improve cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to manage a fast-paced schedule and a high volume of work, deliver within short deadlines, and operate within a complex governance structure.
- Experience developing and executing strategies to drive engagement and client referrals across a referral partner base, with a clear understanding of the requirements and techniques needed to achieve those goals.
- Comfortable engaging partners at different levels of seniority, including in contract negotiations, and understanding the roles and priorities of different stakeholders across client portfolios.
- Fluent in written and spoken English, Bahasa Indonesia and Mandarin. Mandarin is required because this role works with many Chinese-speaking clients and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to independently drive market and client research and own the end-to-end development of business requirement documents.
- Strong ownership, commitment and accountability for assigned business objectives. Self-driven, with strong interpersonal skills and a can-do mindset.
