What they need

Business Development Representative

Help Build What’s Next

At Mobius , we build industrial equipment that changes the way businesses operate.

Our systems are manufactured right here in Ontario and deployed by customers around the world. We design and build equipment that helps our customers reduce labour, increase throughput, improve consistency, and scale their operations.

Now, we’re looking for a Business Development Representative to help us find the companies that need what we build.

This isn’t a role where you sit around waiting for leads to come in.

You’ll research markets, identify companies, uncover decision-makers, start conversations, understand operational challenges, and create qualified sales opportunities. You’ll be one of the first people a prospective customer meets when they discover Mobius.

If you’re competitive, curious, persistent, commercially minded, and excited by the idea of turning a cold prospect into a real business opportunity, this could be your role.

The Role

As a Business Development Representative, you’ll be responsible for identifying and engaging prospective customers and turning promising prospects into qualified sales opportunities.

You’ll identify organizations that could benefit from Mobius equipment, research their operations and key decision-makers, and develop then execute targeted outreach strategies to get their attention.

You’ll connect with prospects through:

  • Phone calls and outbound prospecting
  • Personalized email campaigns
  • LinkedIn and other social channels
  • Industry directories and databases
  • Trade shows, events, and other industry resources
  • Referrals and existing customer networks
  • Targeted account-based prospecting

Your objective is simple:

Find the right companies. Start the right conversations. Create qualified opportunities.

What You’ll Do

Research & Market Development

  • Research target market segments, companies, and geographic territories.
  • Identify high-value accounts and build targeted prospect lists.
  • Research company operations, production environments, product lines, facilities, and organizational structures.
  • Identify key decision-makers, influencers, and buying teams.
  • Monitor market developments, competitive activity, new facilities, expansions, acquisitions, and other potential buying signals.
  • Develop account intelligence that enables more relevant and effective outreach.

Prospecting & Outreach

  • Execute high-volume, high-quality outbound prospecting campaigns.
  • Make calls, send emails, and engage prospects through social media.
  • Develop personalized messaging based on the prospect's business and operational needs.
  • Follow up consistently and professionally across multiple channels.
  • Engage prospects who may not know us yet or understand what our equipment can do for their business.
  • Build rapport with prospective customers from the first interaction.
  • Turn cold prospects into meaningful business conversations.

Lead Generation & Opportunity Creation

  • Qualify outbound leads and reinvigorate the ones that got away from us.
  • Ask intelligent questions to understand a prospect's operation, challenges, goals, equipment, capacity, and growth plans.
  • Identify situations where Mobius equipment could create measurable value.
  • Determine whether a prospect represents a legitimate sales opportunity.
  • Generate qualified meetings and demonstrations for the sales team.
  • Capture accurate and relevant prospect information in our CRM.
  • Provide Account Executives with the research, context, and qualification information they need to have productive conversations.
  • Maintain strong follow-up discipline with prospects until they are qualified, disqualified, or otherwise appropriately dispositioned.

Sales & Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with Account Executives and sales leadership to develop target-account strategies.
  • Provide account intelligence and relevant prospect information before sales meetings.
  • Share market feedback, objections, competitive intelligence, and customer insights with the broader team.
  • Help develop and improve outbound messaging and prospecting campaigns.
  • Participate in trade shows, customer events, demonstrations, and other business development activities as required.

What Success Looks Like

You’ll be measured by your ability to consistently turn targeted prospecting activity into qualified sales opportunities.

Success means:

  • Identifying the right accounts and decision-makers.
  • Consistently reaching new prospects.
  • Creating meaningful conversations with prospective customers.
  • Generating qualified meetings and demonstrations.
  • Creating a steady flow of qualified sales opportunities.
  • Maintaining excellent CRM discipline and data quality.
  • Learning our products and markets quickly.
  • Becoming increasingly effective at identifying where Mobius can solve a customer's challenges.
  • Contributing directly to new revenue generation.

This is a role where activity matters, but activity without results doesn't .

We want someone who can make 50 calls, learn from what happened on those calls, improve the approach, and make the next 50 calls better.

What We’re Looking For

You don't need to have spent years in sales. We’re looking for someone with the mindset and drive to become exceptional at what they do.

You are:

  • Competitive. You want to win, and you enjoy having measurable goals.
  • Persistent. You don't give up after the first unanswered email.
  • Curious. You genuinely want to understand how businesses operate.
  • Resourceful. You can find information others can't.
  • Confident. You're comfortable picking up the phone and talking to someone you've never met.
  • A strong communicator. You can write a compelling email and hold an intelligent conversation.
  • Adaptable.  You can pivot your conversational style, discovery, and value statements based on who you’re speaking with whether it be the person who sweeps the floor or the CEO.
  • Organized. You can manage a large volume of prospects without losing track of the details.
  • Coachable. You actively seek feedback and use it to improve.
  • Analytical. You can identify patterns in markets, accounts, and prospect behaviour.
  • Driven. You don't need someone standing over you to get things done.
  • An independent thinker.  We don’t hire people to tell them what to do. We hire people who are smart enough to figure out what should be done, confident enough to say it, and curious enough to keep challenging their own thinking.

Qualifications

  • We’re not looking for a specific tenure in your last few business development roles. We get a lot more excited when you can demonstrate that you’ve done this before, and you were kinda awesome at it.
  • You can demonstrate your ability to communicate professionally by phone, email, and social media, and you don’t make it weird.
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • You have exceptional research and internet investigation skills.
  • You’re comfortable working with CRM systems and sales technology.
  • You have proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
  • You can show us you have the ability to learn technical products and translate technical capabilities into business value.
  • You have strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • You can work independently when you need to, but can collaborate with a pretty broad team of neurodivergent weirdos, socially awkward engineers, super talented tradespeople, caffeine-fueled salespeople, and marketing (marketing is actually pretty normal).
  • Experience in industrial equipment, manufacturing, automation, agriculture, cannabis, food processing, or another B2B technical environment carries bonus points, but it’s not required.

The Environment

You'll be working on-site at our manufacturing facility and office in Carleton Place, Ontario , alongside the people who design, build, sell, and support our equipment.

You'll have the opportunity to see the machines you're selling being manufactured, understand how they work, and develop a real understanding of the challenges they solve.

You'll learn from engineers, manufacturing specialists, sales professionals, and our customers.

You'll see equipment being conceptualized, prototyped, improved, built, tested, shipped, installed, and put to work.

And, you'll have a direct connection between the conversations you're having with prospects and the machines being built on the floor.

Why Mobius?

We’ve been building ambitious equipment for nearly two decades and are one of the most highly respected manufacturers in our industry.

Mobius equipment has been deployed into facilities around the world, and we're continuing to expand into new markets every day.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Build a career in B2B sales and business development.
  • Work with sophisticated industrial equipment.
  • Develop expertise in market research, prospecting, sales, and account development.
  • Work directly with an experienced sales team.
  • Develop relationships with companies across North America and international markets.
  • See and touch the direct results of your work.
  • Grow with a company that is actively expanding.

This is not a passive role.

You'll be expected to pick up the phone.

You'll be expected to find the decision-maker.

You'll be expected to figure out what matters to them.

You'll hear “no.”

You'll hear “not interested.”

And occasionally, you'll find the company that says:

“We've been looking for exactly this.”

If that sounds exciting rather than intimidating, we'd like to meet you.

Apply to join the Mobius team in Carleton Place.
