What they need
Join TrueNorth Behavioral Health
TrueNorth Behavioral Health is a growing behavioral health organization in Irving, Texas, dedicated to helping individuals Heal. Recover. Thrive. We provide structured, evidence-informed mental health and substance use disorder treatment designed to help adults achieve greater stability, recovery, and quality of life.
As we prepare to expand our presence throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth market, we are seeking an energetic, relationship-driven Business Development Specialist to build referral partnerships, increase community awareness, and help establish TrueNorth as a trusted behavioral health resource.
The Opportunity
The Business Development Specialist will be responsible for developing and maintaining referral relationships throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area. This is a highly visible, community-facing position requiring consistent outreach, relationship development, follow-up, networking, and measurable referral activity.
The ideal candidate understands that behavioral health business development is about more than marketing—it is about becoming a trusted resource for professionals, families, organizations, and communities seeking timely access to quality treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic business development plan for the Dallas–Fort Worth market.
- Establish relationships with hospitals, emergency departments, psychiatric facilities, therapists, psychiatrists, physicians, treatment centers, EAPs, colleges, employers, community organizations, and other referral sources.
- Conduct regular in-person visits with current and prospective referral partners.
- Educate referral sources about TrueNorth's programs, admission criteria, referral process, insurance participation, and treatment options.
- Generate qualified referrals for TrueNorth's Mental Health PHP/IOP and Substance Use Disorder PHP/IOP programs and other outpatient services.
- Develop relationships with professionals serving commercially insured and private-pay clients.
- Respond promptly to referral-source inquiries and coordinate closely with admissions and clinical leadership.
- Maintain consistent follow-up with referral partners before and after referrals.
- Identify new referral opportunities, strategic partnerships, community events, and market-development opportunities.
- Represent TrueNorth at professional meetings, networking events, conferences, community events, and healthcare functions.
- Conduct presentations, facility tours, educational meetings, and outreach events.
- Maintain accurate documentation of outreach activities, contacts, referrals, and follow-up efforts within the organization's CRM or tracking system.
- Monitor referral trends and provide regular reports regarding referral sources, conversion patterns, market opportunities, and competitive activity.
- Collaborate with leadership on digital marketing, community outreach, physician relations, employer outreach, and brand-development initiatives.
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with referral sources and comply with applicable healthcare marketing, privacy, and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, healthcare administration, behavioral health, communications, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered.
- Strong relationship-building and professional communication skills.
- Ability to independently develop and manage a territory.
- Excellent presentation, networking, organizational, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex.
- Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365, and standard business technology.
Strongly Preferred:
- 2+ years of behavioral health, substance use treatment, healthcare, hospital, or medical business development experience.
- Existing professional relationships within the Dallas–Fort Worth healthcare or behavioral health community.
- Experience marketing PHP, IOP, outpatient behavioral health, addiction treatment, psychiatric services, or related healthcare services.
- Experience developing relationships with commercially insured and private-pay referral populations.
- Demonstrated history of developing referral pipelines and producing measurable growth.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this position will be measured through meaningful activity and results, including growth in qualified referrals and admissions, development of new active referral sources, consistent engagement with existing partners, referral-source retention, community visibility, outreach activity, CRM documentation, and achievement of established monthly and quarterly business-development goals.
The Business Development Specialist will be expected to develop a diversified referral network rather than relying heavily on a small number of referral sources.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is confident, personable, persistent, organized, and comfortable getting out into the community. The right person can walk into a hospital, physician practice, therapist's office, employer meeting, or professional networking event and effectively communicate why TrueNorth should be considered when someone needs a higher level of outpatient behavioral health care.
You should enjoy building relationships from the ground up and understand the importance of consistent follow-up. This position is especially well suited for someone who wants the opportunity to help build the business-development infrastructure of a growing behavioral health organization rather than simply inherit an established territory.
Why TrueNorth?
TrueNorth Behavioral Health is being developed with a focus on clinical excellence, exceptional client experience, strong community partnerships, and a modern approach to outpatient behavioral healthcare.
The Business Development Specialist will have the opportunity to play an important role in building our presence across Irving and the broader Dallas–Fort Worth market.
