Business Intelligence Engineer

About the role

The Business Intelligence Engineer partners with business units across the organization to understand their data and reporting needs, translating business requirements into clear data specifications. The role involves designing and developing data transformation logic, building and maintaining data models in Amazon Redshift or the Data Lake, and creating interactive dashboards and reports in Tableau. The Business Intelligence Engineer acts as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the technical data platform team, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and completeness for all reporting datasets.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business units across the organization to understand their data and reporting needs
• Facilitate requirements workshops and interviews to document data requirements, KPIs, and reporting use cases
• Translate business requirements into clear data specifications for the data engineering team
• Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the technical data platform team
• Design and develop data transformation logic to prepare curated datasets for reporting and analytics consumption
• Build and maintain data models in Amazon Redshift or the curated/consumption zone of the Data Lake
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness for all reporting datasets
• Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Tableau
• Create near-real-time operational dashboards, ad-hoc analysis views, and scheduled reports tailored to business unit needs
• Document data definitions, business glossary terms, and dashboard logic in the AWS Glue Data Catalogue

About you

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a data engineering, business intelligence, or data analyst role
• Proficiency in SQL for data querying, transformation, and modelling
• Hands-on experience with Tableau or equivalent BI tools (Power BI, QuickSight) for dashboard development
• Experience working with cloud data platforms (AWS preferred — Amazon Redshift, S3, AWS Glue)
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
• Experience in data modelling for analytics (star schema, dimensional modelling)
• Familiarity with Python for data transformation and automation (preferred)
• Experience with AWS Glue Data Catalogue or similar metadata management tools (preferred)
• Exposure to Salesforce or other SaaS data sources (preferred)
• Understanding of data governance and data quality principles (preferred)
