Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Business Objects Lead / Architect with strong expertise in SAP BusinessObjects (SAP BO), BI architecture, reporting, universe design, platform administration, and enterprise data analytics .

The ideal candidate should be capable of leading Business Objects implementations, defining BI architecture, designing scalable reporting solutions, mentoring development teams, and working closely with business and technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, development, and implementation of SAP BusinessObjects solutions .
• Define enterprise-level BI architecture, standards, governance, and best practices .
• Design and develop complex reports using Web Intelligence (WebI) and other SAP BO reporting tools.
• Build and maintain Universes using Information Design Tool (IDT) and Universe Design Tool (UDT) .
• Design semantic layers to support scalable and reusable enterprise reporting.
• Perform requirement analysis and translate business requirements into technical BI solutions.
• Lead migration, upgrade, and modernization initiatives for SAP BusinessObjects platforms.
• Manage and optimize Business Objects environments for performance, scalability, and availability.
• Work closely with Data Engineering, Database, ERP, and business teams to integrate reporting solutions.
• Design reporting solutions across multiple data sources including relational databases, data warehouses, and enterprise applications.
• Perform performance tuning of reports, universes, queries, and database interactions.
• Define security models, user access, folders, groups, and content governance within Business Objects.
• Support scheduling, publications, bursting, and automated report distribution.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues across reports, universes, servers, and platform components.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to BI developers and administrators.
• Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and design reviews.
• Establish development standards, naming conventions, documentation, and deployment processes.
• Coordinate releases across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
• Support business users and stakeholders in defining KPIs, dashboards, and reporting requirements.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in Business Intelligence / Reporting, with strong expertise in SAP BusinessObjects .

• Strong hands-on experience with:

  • SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform
  • Web Intelligence (WebI)
  • Information Design Tool (IDT)
  • Universe Design Tool (UDT)
  • Central Management Console (CMC)
  • BusinessObjects Server Administration

• Strong experience designing and developing Universes and semantic layers .

• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.

• Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, SAP HANA, Snowflake, or similar enterprise databases .

• Strong understanding of Data Warehousing, dimensional modelling, star schema, and snowflake schema concepts.

• Experience with Business Objects security, scheduling, publications, and report distribution.

• Strong troubleshooting and performance-tuning capabilities.

• Experience with Business Objects upgrades, migrations, patches, and platform administration.

• Good understanding of enterprise BI architecture and reporting governance.

• Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills.

• Ability to lead technical teams and independently drive BI initiatives.

Architecture & Leadership Expectations

The candidate should be able to:

• Define the overall Business Objects architecture and roadmap .
• Recommend the right reporting and semantic-layer approach based on business requirements.
• Review existing BI environments and identify opportunities for optimization and modernization.
• Lead complex Business Objects implementations and migration programs.
• Guide development teams on report design, universe development, performance, and security.
• Establish scalable frameworks and reusable BI components.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders and convert business requirements into enterprise BI solutions.
• Take ownership of technical delivery, quality, timelines, and production stability.

Good to Have

• Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) .
• Experience integrating SAP BO with SAP HANA, BW, S/4HANA, or SAP Datasphere .
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, or AWS .
• Exposure to Power BI or Tableau.
• Experience with Business Objects REST APIs / SDKs.
• Experience in BI modernization or migration from SAP BO to newer analytics platforms.
• Knowledge of CI/CD and automated deployment practices for BI environments.
