What they need

Business Operations Coordinator

Company: Medical Imaging Group
Location: San Diego, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Compensation: Starting at $25/hour

Position Overview

Medical Imaging Group is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and adaptable Business Operations Coordinator to support the continued growth of The MRI Academy and our affiliated healthcare businesses.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, solving problems, building relationships, and helping growing companies turn ideas into execution.

The majority of the role will initially support Medical Imaging Group and The MRI Academy, including clinical partnerships, student placement, school coordination, operational projects, and expansion initiatives. As our affiliated companies continue to grow, this individual may also support select projects across other businesses based on organizational priorities.

This is not a narrowly defined administrative position. We are looking for someone who can take ownership, follow through, communicate professionally, and become a reliable operational resource across the organization.

Core Responsibilities

Clinical Partnerships & Student Placement

  • Research and identify hospitals, imaging centers, physician practices, outpatient facilities, and other potential clinical partners.
  • Contact prospective clinical sites by phone and email to introduce Medical Imaging Group and explore student placement opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clinical-site leadership, technologists, managers, and other key contacts.
  • Coordinate student placements based on modality, geography, clinical requirements, site availability, and school needs.
  • Track available clinical capacity and anticipate future placement needs.
  • Follow up consistently with prospective and existing clinical partners.
  • Visit clinical sites throughout Southern California when appropriate.
  • Help maintain affiliation agreements, site documentation, contact information, and placement records.

School & Student Coordination

  • Serve as a day-to-day operational contact for school partners regarding student placement status, documentation, start dates, and clinical requirements.
  • Assist with student onboarding, scheduling, placement communication, and documentation.
  • Help coordinate upcoming cohorts and identify capacity needs in advance.
  • Maintain accurate records related to students, schools, clinical sites, and placements.
  • Escalate contractual, financial, sensitive student, or executive-level partnership matters to company leadership.

Business Operations

  • Support company leadership with operational projects and business initiatives.
  • Assist with recruiting, scheduling, vendor coordination, research, documentation, and process improvement.
  • Help organize and track ongoing projects to ensure deadlines and follow-ups are completed.
  • Create and maintain internal tracking systems, spreadsheets, reports, and operational documentation.
  • Communicate with outside partners, vendors, schools, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Assist with new-market expansion and company launch initiatives.

Cross-Company Support

  • Support select operational projects across affiliated businesses when needed.
  • Shift priorities between companies based on business needs and leadership direction.
  • Assist with research, outreach, vendor coordination, recruiting, scheduling, and project execution across the broader organization.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while working across multiple business entities.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means becoming someone leadership can rely on to take ownership and get things done.

Strong performance would include:

  • Increasing clinical-placement capacity.
  • Maintaining consistent follow-up with prospective partners.
  • Helping students move into clinical placements efficiently.
  • Keeping school partners informed and organized.
  • Completing projects without requiring constant supervision.
  • Identifying problems early and helping develop solutions.
  • Being able to move between different projects and companies without losing track of priorities.
  • Developing into a trusted operational partner as the organization grows.

The Person We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Highly organized and dependable.
  • Comfortable speaking with professionals by phone, email, and in person.
  • Persistent with follow-up without being overly aggressive.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-growing environment where responsibilities may evolve.
  • Resourceful and willing to figure things out.
  • Professional, personable, and relationship-oriented.
  • Comfortable taking initiative while also knowing when to ask questions.
  • Interested in growing with the organization rather than simply performing a fixed list of tasks.

Healthcare, education, business development, recruiting, operations, or account-management experience is helpful but not required for the right candidate.

Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up abilities.
  • Comfortable using spreadsheets, email, shared documents, and common business software.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel locally when needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience in operations, healthcare, education, customer success, recruiting, sales, business development, or relationship management is a plus.

Growth Opportunity

This role is intended to grow with the organization.

A high-performing Business Operations Coordinator may eventually advance into positions such as:

Operations Manager → Senior Operations Manager → Director of Operations

Depending on strengths and company needs, there may also be opportunities to grow into leadership roles focused on clinical partnerships, business development, expansion, or broader company operations.

We are looking for someone who wants to grow alongside a rapidly expanding organization and take on increasing responsibility over time.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
