Business Performance Analyst

Our client is an established New Zealand business operating in a complex, logistics-focused environment. With a strong focus on improving operational performance and making better use of data, they're looking for someone who can bring commercial insight and fresh thinking to the business.

Why this role?

This is a business partnering opportunity for an experienced Business Performance Analyst who enjoys working with senior leaders and influencing decisions rather than simply producing reports.

You'll work closely with operational leadership, using data to identify efficiencies, understand costs and challenge existing thinking.

We're looking for someone commercially astute, confident in their recommendations and comfortable working within an established data strategy and governance framework.

What you'll be doing

• Partnering with senior leaders to understand business challenges and influence operational decisions
• Analysing logistics costs, fleet utilisation, distribution efficiency and overall performance
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities and recommending practical improvements
• Developing meaningful reporting and dashboards to support decision-making
• Providing analysis to support forecasting, budgeting and operational planning
• Working with Data, Finance and operational teams to maintain accurate, consistent reporting
• Following established data architecture, methodologies and governance standards
• Helping stakeholders become more confident using data in their day-to-day decisions

What we're looking for

You'll bring strong analytical skills, commercial understanding and the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders.

Ideally, you'll have:

• 3+ years' experience in business performance, commercial, operations, supply chain or financial analysis
• Proven experience partnering with senior stakeholders and influencing decisions
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate data into practical recommendations
• Experience analysing operational costs, performance drivers and improvement opportunities
• Advanced Excel and Power BI skills, alongside working knowledge of SQL
• A sound understanding of data quality, governance and established reporting standards
• The confidence to constructively challenge assumptions and offer alternative perspectives
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across technical and non-technical teams

Experience in logistics, transport, distribution or another operationally complex industry would be advantageous. Exposure to Databricks or modern data platforms would also be beneficial.
