What they need

About the role

Global Policing is looking for a confident, reliable and enthusiastic Business Support Apprentice to join our growing team.

This isn't an apprenticeship where you'll spend every day doing the same thing.

We're looking for someone we can train and develop into a genuinely all-round member of our team, gaining experience across the different services we provide to schools and other organisations.

One day you might be helping prepare or deliver a training session. Another could involve supporting attendance work with a school or family, helping with one of our Chameleon programmes, assisting our Data Protection team or supporting clients from the office.

You don't need experience in all of these areas - we'll train you.

What matters to us is finding someone with the right attitude, confidence and willingness to learn.

What you'll be doing

As you develop, you'll gain experience across areas including:

  • Training preparation and delivery
  • Attendance and family support
  • School, family and community visits
  • Chameleon and pupil-focused programmes
  • Data Protection administration
  • Supporting Subject Access Requests and data breach administration
  • Client communication and support
  • Answering telephone and email enquiries
  • Bookings and general administration
  • Maintaining accurate records and updating our systems
  • Supporting different departments during busy periods
  • Helping with the general day-to-day running of the business

You'll start by working alongside experienced members of the team.

As your skills and confidence develop, we'll gradually increase your responsibilities and give you opportunities to take greater ownership of your work.

What we're looking for

We're much more interested in finding someone with the right attitude and potential than someone who already knows how to do everything.

You'll need to be:

  • Friendly, confident and professional
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Comfortable speaking to people on the telephone and face-to-face
  • Organised and able to follow tasks through
  • Willing to ask questions when you're unsure
  • Happy to take feedback and learn
  • Comfortable working with children, young people, families and professionals
  • Able to handle confidential information appropriately
  • Comfortable using technology and learning new systems
  • Flexible and willing to support different areas of the business
  • Able to take responsibility for your work
  • Happy working both in the office and out at client locations

Previous experience in Data Protection, attendance, training or education is not required.

Driving & travel - essential

A full UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle are essential for this role.

Our work involves visiting schools, families and other locations, so this is not a purely office-based apprenticeship.

You will need to have, or be willing and able to obtain, appropriate business-use motor insurance.

Most travel will be within Greater Manchester and surrounding areas, with occasional travel further afield.

Authorised business mileage and travel expenses will be covered in accordance with company policy.

Please only apply if you are comfortable with the travel requirements of the role.

What you'll learn

Alongside your formal apprenticeship programme, you'll receive practical training and development from Global Policing.

Depending on your development and the requirements of the role, this could include:

  • Safeguarding
  • Attendance and family engagement
  • Training and presentation skills
  • First Aid and relevant instructor development where appropriate
  • Chameleon programme delivery
  • Data Protection and UK GDPR
  • Subject Access Requests
  • Data breach processes
  • Client communication
  • Report writing
  • Business administration and systems

You will not be expected to undertake specialist work independently until you have received the appropriate training and demonstrated that you are ready to do so.

Your apprenticeship

We're working with apprenticeship providers to identify the programme and level that best supports this varied role and your development.

The apprenticeship will run alongside your practical development within Global Policing, giving you the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification while building real workplace experience.

Where could this lead?

We don't want to train someone to do just one job.

Our aim is to develop you into a versatile operational professional who understands different parts of the organisation and can confidently support the wider team.

As you develop, you'll gain exposure to potential career paths across:

  • Training and service delivery
  • Attendance and family support
  • Data Protection
  • Client services
  • Business operations

For the right person, there will be plenty of opportunity to develop your skills, take on more responsibility and build a career with us.

Safeguarding

Global Policing works closely with schools, children and young people.

The successful candidate will therefore be required to complete appropriate safer-recruitment and pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS check where required.

Before applying

Please make sure you:

  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Have access to a suitable vehicle
  • Can obtain appropriate business-use insurance
  • Are comfortable travelling for work
  • Are happy working across different areas of the business
  • Are comfortable speaking to clients and answering the telephone
  • Are genuinely looking for a varied, hands-on apprenticeship

If you're looking for an apprenticeship where you can learn, get involved, build your confidence and develop a genuinely broad range of professional skills, we'd love to hear from you.
