Business Systems Analyst

Haugland Group, a privately owned Long Island, New York-based civil infrastructure and energy construction company, has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Business Systems Analyst to join our team.

The Business Systems Analyst acts as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that application solutions meet operational needs and deliver measurable value. They focus on requirements gathering, process analysis, documentation, and testing, supporting the Director in executing the applications roadmap.

Key Functions:

• Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, and observations across Estimating, Operations, Finance, HR, and Safety to identify business needs, document processes, pain points, improvement opportunities, and develop functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Create current-state and future-state process maps for job cost tracking, certified payroll, change order management, and RFI/submittal workflows, identifying inefficiencies and recommending automation or system enhancements.
• Support system selection, upgrades, fit-gap analysis, application configuration validation with vendors and internal teams, and data migration planning, including mapping, cleansing, and validation.
• Develop UAT test plans and scripts, coordinate testing cycles, log defects, verify fixes, and validate system integrations.
• Prepare functional specifications, process guides, SOPs, training materials, and application knowledge bases while assisting with end-user training.
• Define dashboard and KPI reporting requirements and validate data accuracy in cost reports, WIP schedules, and compliance reports.
• Along with the PM team and post-go-live team, gather post-implementation feedback, monitor system usage and adoption metrics, and recommend improvements or new features based on user feedback and industry best practices.

Desired Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of construction workflows, including estimating, project management, payroll, and compliance.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, project management platforms, and estimating tools such as Viewpoint, Procore, and HCSS.
• Proficiency in process modeling tools (Visio, Lucidchart) and reporting tools (Power BI, Crystal Reports).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Exceptional documentation skills with the ability to consistently and accurately capture processes, requirements, workflows, and decisions and translate them into detailed, easy-to-follow SOPs and process documentation.
• Ability to collaborate with IT, vendors, and functional department leads across Estimating, Finance, and Operations.
