Busser/Food Runner

Overview

The Board and Barrel is looking for Part-Time Busser/Food Runner to become a vital part of delivering an exceptional dining experience! In this energetic role, you will support our service staff by maintaining a clean and inviting environment, efficiently delivering food to guests, and ensuring that every guest feels welcomed and cared for. Responsibilities

• Clear and clean tables promptly to maintain a tidy dining area, ensuring guest comfort and safety.
• Assist with bussing tables, resetting them efficiently for new guests while adhering to food safety standards.
• Safely handle food and beverage items during delivery from kitchen to table, following proper food handling procedures.
• Support the kitchen team by transporting dishes, utensils, and supplies using safe manual handling practices, including heavy lifting when necessary.
• Deliver food orders swiftly and accurately to guests’ tables, ensuring presentation quality and timely service.
• Maintain clear communication with servers, kitchen staff, and management using effective verbal skills to coordinate service flow smoothly.
• Uphold cleanliness standards by cleaning workstations, floors, and service areas regularly using appropriate cleaning techniques.
• Assist with in-person guest services by answering questions politely and providing attentive support throughout the dining experience.
• Operate POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS for order processing when needed, supporting seamless transactions.
• Follow all food safety protocols to ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation at all times.

Experience

• Previous experience in food service or restaurant environments is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for hospitality is key!
• Familiarity with food running, bussing, or supporting roles in busy restaurant settings is advantageous.
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting and safe lifting practices.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively with guests and team members in person.
• Knowledge of POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS is a plus but training will be provided.
• Experience with food safety standards and basic food preparation techniques enhances your fit for this role.
• A proactive attitude with excellent customer service skills helps create welcoming experiences for all guests.
