Buyer

About the role

We are looking for a responsible and detail-oriented Buyer to support purchasing and material planning activities in a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, managing suppliers, monitoring delivery schedules, controlling purchasing costs, and ensuring materials are available to support production requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Purchase raw materials, components, consumables and other items according to production and business requirements
• Review purchase requisitions and issue Purchase Orders (PO) accurately and on time
• Monitor material requirements and ensure timely delivery to support production schedules
• Follow up closely on outstanding Purchase Orders, shortages and delivery commitments
• Expedite urgent materials when necessary to minimize production disruption
• Coordinate with Planning, Production, Warehouse, Engineering and Quality on material-related matters
• Source and evaluate suitable suppliers based on price, quality, delivery and service performance
• Request and compare supplier quotations and negotiate for competitive pricing, lead time, payment terms and other commercial conditions
• Monitor supplier delivery performance and follow up on late or incomplete deliveries
• Identify cost-saving and alternative sourcing opportunities without compromising quality and production requirements

About you

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, Logistics or a related field
• Relevant working experience in Purchasing / Procurement within a manufacturing environment
• Good negotiation, sourcing and supplier-management skills
• Strong follow-up skills, especially for material shortages and delivery commitments
• Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
• Able to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal departments
• Ability to communicate in Mandarin will be an added advantage.
