Buyer

Job Summary

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Buyer to be responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products for our business. Your responsibilities will include processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, creating and maintaining an inventory and liaising with Materials team and management. The buyer will work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand.

The Buyer should be analytically minded and possess excellent negotiating skills to secure the best prices according to budget

Job Responsibilities

• VMI Management
• Purchasing order processing
• Plant Consumables Inventory Management and Procurement
• Plant Services Management and Procurement (i.e. Landscaping, Waste Disposal)
• Production Part sourcing.
• Follow all plant HR and Safety Policies
• Ability to work well in groups and individually
• Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
• Coordinate with materials team, and management as required.
• Work within ERP system.
• Ensure adequate inventory levels by monitoring, adjusting and ordering supplies based on consumption
• Create and analyze buying reports

Job Qualifications

• Supply Chain Management experience an asset
• A minimum of 3 years working in a manufacturing setting with exposure to MRO purchasing and VMI management
• ERP experience with JD Edwards experience an asset
• Experience sourcing varying types of commodities with a focus on parts used in manufacturing steel structures
• Strong Communication Skills

Job Demands

• Regular work schedule: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m and onsite at the Brantford factory location
• This position is based primarily on the manufacturing floor rather than in an office environment.
• Daily interaction with manufacturing employees and supervisors is required.
• Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, including wearing required PPE and working in areas with elevated noise levels.
