Your tasks

We are seeking a Buyer to support our daily procurement and purchasing operations at our Penang, Malaysia site. This role focuses on purchase order processing, supplier coordination, order follow-up, documentation, and ensuring timely delivery of materials while maintaining compliance with company procedures.

• Obtain and evaluate quotations from approved suppliers
• Process purchase requisitions and create purchase orders in accordance with procurement procedures and cost engineering estimates
• Manage day-to-day procurement activities for production, engineering and other purchasing requirements
• Follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and proactively resolve delivery-related issues
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, pricing, and procurement documentation
• Coordinate with internal departments to ensure procurement requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner
• Liaise with suppliers regarding quotations, order acknowledgements, delivery schedules, and invoice discrepancies
• Monitor order status and provide regular updates to relevant stakeholders
• Support supplier performance monitoring and maintain procurement-related reports and records
• Assist in resolving issues relating to late delivery, quantity discrepancies and concerns in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
• Support cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement of procurement processes
• Support procurement activities involving make-to-order (MTO) and OEM parts, including reviewing technical specifications and engineering drawings with local and international subject matter experts

Your skills

• Minimum relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
• 2–4 years working experience in the manufacturing industry
• Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Responsible, meticulous, and proactive in following up on procurement activities
• Good command of English, both written and spoken; additional language skills are an advantage
• Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel); working experience with SAP is a plus
• Understanding of technical specifications, engineering drawings and measurement methods are an added advantage
