Buyer (Contract)

Key responsibilities

• Sourcing, evaluating and selecting suppliers for contract-based procurement requirements
• Negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers to secure favourable pricing, delivery schedules and quality standards
• Preparing and issuing purchase orders and contract documentation
• Monitoring supplier performance and contract compliance throughout the agreement period
• Managing contract renewals and amendments as required
• Collaborating with internal departments to understand procurement needs and requirements
• Maintaining accurate records of contracts, pricing and supplier information
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities and process improvements within procurement activities
• Resolving procurement issues and disputes with suppliers in a professional manner
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and procurement procedures

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in procurement, buying or contract management within the manufacturing or logistics sector
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure competitive terms whilst maintaining positive supplier relationships
• Excellent knowledge of procurement processes, contract management and supply chain principles
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and procurement software systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple contracts and priorities effectively
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Understanding of quality standards and compliance requirements in manufacturing or logistics environments
• Diploma or degree in supply chain management, procurement, commerce or a related field (preferred)
• Experience with contract negotiation and vendor management (preferred)
