C# Developer

About the role

International energy infrastructure company working on natural gas transport, LNG terminals and the energy transition, including hydrogen and CO₂ infrastructure. The team designs, builds and evolves distributed backend platforms behind business-critical operations. The work centres on scalable microservices, event-driven communication and cloud-native solutions running in production. Reliability, security and long-term maintainability come first.

What you will do

• Design, build and maintain backend microservices in .NET 8, so services stay scalable, resilient and easy to maintain.
• Build asynchronous communication between services with messaging and event-driven patterns (queues, topics, pub/sub).
• Define service boundaries, API contracts and how services integrate with each other, working closely with architecture and product teams.
• Develop and deploy services in cloud environments, in line with security, performance and cost standards.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, from build and automated testing through deployment and post-deployment observability.
• Add logging, metrics and tracing so the team can see how services behave in production.
• Take part in code reviews, technical discussions and incident analysis, and help build a culture of quality, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Location and work model

• Hybrid (2 days/week in the office, Lisboa)

What are we looking for?

• At least 4 years of professional experience in backend development with C# and .NET;
• Strong hands-on experience with .NET Core / .NET 8, including ASP.NET Core Web APIs, dependency injection, middleware and asynchronous programming;
• Proven experience designing and building microservices architectures, including service decomposition, inter-service communication and resilience patterns (retries, circuit breakers, idempotency);
• Hands-on experience with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, Kafka or AWS SQS/SNS, including event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing;
• Good understanding of distributed systems challenges, including eventual consistency, message ordering, delivery guarantees and error handling (dead-letter queues, retries);
• Experience developing and deploying applications on cloud platforms (Azure or AWS);
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including data modelling and query optimisation;
• Experience with automated testing (unit and integration) and clean code practices;
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control with Git;
• Good communication skills and the ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams.

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, observability tools, Domain-Driven Design (DDD) or CQRS will be valued.
