C++ Runtime & Performance Engineer

C++ Runtime & Performance Engineer | Quantitative Trading | New York / Chicago

We are working with a top quantitative trading firm looking for an engineer with deep expertise in C++, Linux and systems performance.

The team works on some of the lowest-level components of the firm's technology stack, focusing on extracting performance from modern hardware and improving the efficiency and predictability of latency-sensitive systems.

What you’ll work on:

• Build and optimize performance-critical C++ systems
• Investigate CPU, memory and concurrency bottlenecks
• Work on memory allocation, threading, synchronization and runtime behaviour
• Profile applications from software down to the underlying hardware
• Improve cache efficiency, data layout and execution performance
• Develop low-level tooling and infrastructure used by other engineers

What we’re looking for:

• Deep C++ and Linux experience
• Strong understanding of memory management, concurrency and CPU architecture
• Experience profiling and optimizing complex systems
• Knowledge of caches, NUMA, allocators, atomics and synchronization
• Experience with compilers, runtimes, kernels, databases, browsers, networking or other performance-sensitive systems is highly relevant

No previous trading experience is required. This is particularly relevant for engineers working on performance-sensitive infrastructure, runtimes, operating systems, compilers, browsers or large-scale C++ systems.
