About the Role

Action Trades & Apprenticeships is looking for motivated and reliable people to commence or recommence a Cabinet Making Apprenticeship across Brisbane, Logan, Toowoomba, Ipswich and the Gold Coast.

As a Cabinet Making Apprentice with Action, you'll gain practical experience while working alongside experienced tradespeople and completing your formal training. You'll learn the skills required to manufacture, assemble and install a wide range of cabinetry, joinery and furniture.

This gives you the opportunity to develop a broader understanding of the cabinet making and shopfitting industry rather than being limited to one type of work or one particular part of the manufacturing process.

What You'll Be Doing

As you progress through your apprenticeship, you'll learn how to:

• Interpret plans, drawings and job specifications
• Measure and mark materials accurately
• Cut and shape timber, board and other materials
• Assemble cabinets, furniture and joinery
• Use a range of hand and power tools
• Gain hands-on experience operating modern cabinet making machinery, including CNC routers, edge banders, beam saws, panel saws, drilling machines and other specialised workshop equipment
• Install cabinetry and joinery on residential and commercial sites
• Assist with commercial fit-outs and shopfitting projects
• Prepare and finish cabinetry and joinery
• Read and understand construction and installation plans
• Work safely in workshops, factories and construction environments
• Work alongside qualified tradespeople and learn from their experience
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workplace

• Be physically capable of working in workshop and construction environments
• Be willing to complete the required off-the-job training
• Be committed to completing your Cabinet Making Apprenticeship

Previous experience in cabinet making, joinery, construction, woodworking or shopfitting is advantageous, but the right attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.
