What they need
Help build the connections behind live events, professional lighting and sound.
Marten Group Ltd is a specialist UK manufacturer and supplier of cable assemblies, connectors and electrical products for the events, entertainment and production industries.
From bespoke assemblies to large repeat orders, we supply the cables that production companies, equipment hire businesses, DJs and other professionals depend on to get the job done. Our products support everything from sound and lighting systems to temporary power distribution—applications where workmanship, accuracy and reliability matter.
Working from our premises in Wrotham, Kent, we manufacture a wide range of power, audio, DMX and data cables, using components from brands including Neutrik, Seetronic, PCE and Mennekes. We combine hands-on manufacturing with direct customer sales and online orders through Amazon, eBay and our WooCommerce website.
As we develop the business, we are looking for a capable, detail-focused colleague who takes pride in making quality products and wants to contribute to more than just one part of the production process.
The role
You will play an important part in taking customer orders from specification through to finished, tested and dispatched products.
Your main focus will be cable assembly, soldering, termination and testing. You will also help process online orders, check product requirements and support packing and dispatch.
This is a hands-on workshop role with online order-processing responsibilities—not a desk-based e-commerce position. It would suit someone who enjoys practical work, is comfortable using computers and can move between tasks without losing attention to detail.
Key responsibilities
- Cable assembly and soldering: Cut, prepare, solder, crimp and terminate cables to customer specifications. Work across power, audio, DMX and data products, including assemblies using 13A, 16A and 32A power connectors, CEEform, XLR, TRUE1 and powerCON.
- Inspection and testing: Read wiring diagrams and assembly instructions, check completed work and carry out electrical testing in accordance with company procedures. Identify faults, resolve issues within your competence and maintain accurate records.
- Online order processing: Use Amazon, eBay and WooCommerce to review and process orders, checking cable lengths, connector types, product variations and quantities before work begins.
- Packing and dispatch: Help pick, pack and label orders, prepare dispatch paperwork and shipping labels, and update order status and tracking information where required.
- Stock and workshop organisation: Monitor component availability, flag shortages promptly and keep tools, materials and work areas organised. Follow safe working practices throughout assembly, testing and handling.
- Teamwork and improvement: Communicate clearly about priorities, progress and problems. Ask when instructions are unclear, double-check your work and suggest practical improvements to quality and efficiency.
Skills and experience required
- At least two years’ relevant experience in cable assembly and soldering, including practical experience assembling and terminating power cables.
- Sound technical understanding of wiring, connectors and cable preparation, with the ability to follow wiring diagrams, specifications and assembly instructions.
- Working knowledge of Amazon, eBay and WooCommerce from a seller or order-processing perspective, including checking order details and maintaining accurate order and dispatch information.
- Good computer skills and strong attention to detail, particularly when working with product codes, cable lengths, quantities and customer requirements.
- A reliable, organised approach to work, with the ability to troubleshoot problems, communicate professionally and work both independently and alongside colleagues.
Experience with professional events equipment, lighting, audio or temporary power would be an advantage. Relevant electrical or soldering qualifications, together with experience using stock-control or courier systems, would also be useful.
Why join Marten?
This is an opportunity to work on specialist products with a practical role in the events and production industry.
You will be part of a hands-on team where your workmanship makes a visible contribution—from an accurately assembled cable to a complete order leaving on time. The work combines technical skills, varied products and involvement in the wider operation of a UK manufacturing and supply business.
We value people who take ownership of their work, communicate openly and care about getting the details right.
Location and working hours
The role is based at our premises in Wrotham, Kent, TN15 7QA, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
You must be able to commute reliably or relocate before starting employment.
Pay: £12.71-£15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
Benefits:
- Casual dress
- Company pension
