Cable Design Manager

Job Summary

The Cable Design Manager is responsible for leading and managing the cable design and development function for Low Voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV), High Voltage (HV), Extra High Voltage (EHV) cable products. This role oversees product design strategy, technical standards, new product development, and team performance to ensure products meet customer requirements, international standards, quality expectations, and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Cable Design team to deliver engineering solutions that meet customer requirements, technical specifications, and industry standards.
• Develop and implement design strategies for LV, MV, HV, and EHV cable products, ensuring product competitiveness and profitability.
• Oversee the design, development, and validation of new cable products and enhancements to existing products.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, technical specifications, material selections, and design calculations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations and customer-specific requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on cable design, electrical performance, material selection, and manufacturing feasibility.
• Collaborate with Sales, Production, Quality Assurance, Planning, Procurement, and R&D teams to support business objectives and product development initiatives.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for design-related issues, customer complaints, and manufacturing challenges.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance, reduce costs, improve manufacturability, and optimize design processes.
• Manage design projects, resources, budgets, and timelines to ensure successful project execution.
• Build and develop technical capabilities within the design team through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
• Represent the company in technical discussions with customers, consultants, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders.
• Prepare and present technical reports, project updates, and strategic recommendations to senior management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in cable design, electrical product design, or related field.
• At least 3-5 years of managerial experience leading engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of LV, MV, HV, and EHV cable design, manufacturing processes, and material technologies.
• Understanding of international cable standards and testing requirements.
• Experience in New Product Development (NPD), product lifecycle management, and design optimization.
• Strong project management, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in engineering software and data analysis tools.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken with a TOEIC score of at least 550.
