Cable Jointer

Scanpower is looking for an experienced Cable Jointer to join our Contracting Division based in Feilding.

This is a hands-on field-based role focused on underground electrical cable jointing, cable installation, terminations, testing and repairs. You'll work across a variety of network, customer and contracting projects, helping deliver safe, reliable and high-quality electricity infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include:

• Installing, maintaining and repairing underground electricity network assets, including cables, joints and terminations.
• Carrying out cable jointing, fault finding, testing and commissioning work to industry and network standards.
• Installing and connecting electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, ring main units and associated network assets.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely, including the application of appropriate isolation, earthing and switching procedures.
• Reading and interpreting plans, drawings and job documentation to deliver high-quality workmanship.
• Building positive relationships with customers, network owners, contractors and fellow team members.
• Maintaining accurate records and completing all required job documentation.

What we're looking for

• We're looking for a skilled Cable Jointer who takes pride in delivering high-quality work, values safety, and enjoys working as part of a professional and supportive team.
• To be successful in this role, you'll have:
• New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply Cable Jointer – High Voltage Level 4 (or equivalent).
• New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply Cable Jointer – Low Voltage Level 3 (or equivalent).
• NZ Electrical Registration (EWRB) in Electrical Supply, or equivalent.
• Ideally, a minimum of two years' experience undertaking HV and/or LV cable jointing work.
• Strong technical knowledge of cable jointing, cable installation, testing and fault finding.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• A current Class 1 New Zealand Driver Licence.
