CAD Design Engineer

MouldCAM Ltd is a world class CNC composites company creating patterns and moulds for a variety of industry sectors; marine, aerospace, MoD, renewables and more. We turn customer designs into precision-made plugs, moulds and composite tooling, using large-format CNC machining, advanced composites and specialist finishing.

The role requires experience of working with customer CAD to undertake projects, ensuring designs meet customer requirements and are suitable for manufacture, whilst remaining within budgetary guidelines.

The role will involve working on multiple projects across a variety of sectors, requiring a practical and logical approach to design and problem solving.

The job is a full time, in-person role on-site based at our facility in Poole, Dorset UK.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking client projects, working with customer CAD to develop designs that meet the brief, are suitable for manufacture and remain within budgetary guidelines.
• Providing support to other areas of the business in communicating designs, answering queries and finding solutions to manufacturing challenges.
• Working closely with other departments, including CAM, CNC and Block Up, to ensure CAD designs are suitable for the manufacturing process.
• Supplying CAD designs for frames, bases and production setups for CNC programmers specific to customer/business requirements.
• Working to tight deadlines across multiple projects and varying industry sectors.
• Source materials and suppliers to complete projects.
• Quality checking comparing CAD to manufactured components.

Skills

• Engineering degree, HNC/HND in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent relevant higher education qualification.
• CAD experience of 2 years+ (we currently use Rhino version 8 CAD software).
• Strong problem solving and logical thinking skills.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
• Ability to think on their feet and work under pressure to achieve within agreed timescale.
• Ability to work well with several departments within the business.
• Requirement to be budget conscious and consider practical solutions.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office [Outlook, Word, Excel].
• Project management.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Well organised.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £28,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
