CAD Drafter

We are seeking a CAD Drafter experienced in SolidWorks to support our manufacturing engineering and operations teams. In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Reviewing and managing legacy CAD models by incorporating Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
• Generating 2D material pattern cut files for composite production
• Creating 3D geometries for simple tools and fixtures
• Maintaining CAD data integrity to standards
• The ideal candidate possesses experience working in a manufacturing environment, has some experience with composites fabrication, can interpret engineering drawings, and has hands-on understanding of CAD document management

Key Responsibilities

• 3D Modeling: Generate or modify detail-level 3D parts and assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
• 2D Patterns: Generate or modify 2D flat patterns for composite ply cutting to LifePort drafting standards.
• CAD Data Management: Practice rigorous CAD file housekeeping and data management standards.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Software Proficiency: Experience using SolidWorks or other CAD software.
• CAD Management: Experience managing CAD data structures, standard libraries, PDM workflows, or file organization systems.
• Drawing Interpretation: Experience in reading and interpreting complex multi-view engineering drawings, assembly diagrams, and technical specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, Mechanical Design Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• Practical experience in 3D surface modeling in SolidWorks.
• Practical experience in tool, template, or fixture design for composites manufacturing.
• Experience in ASME Y14.5 drafting standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles.
• Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems integration
