CAD Draughtsperson

CED Fabrications is a well-established sheet metal fabrication company with particular expertise in the commercial catering equipment sector. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced CAD/CAM Draughtsperson to join our busy Drawing & Planning Office.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with a strong sheet metal background to become part of a close-knit team and play a key role in delivering high-quality fabrication projects from concept through to manufacture.

The Role

As a CAD/CAM Draughtsperson, you will be responsible for:

• Reading and interpreting customer specifications and technical information
• Producing General Arrangement (GA) drawings and accurate manufacturing drawings for customer approval
• Liaising with customers to ensure design requirements are fully understood
• Working closely with shopfloor personnel to support production activities
• Assisting with planning and manufacturing processes where required
• Ensuring designs are practical, cost-effective and suitable for manufacture

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking someone with:

• Previous experience within a sheet metal fabrication environment
• Strong 2D and/or 3D CAD design skills
• Experience using Radan software or a comparable CAD/CAM manufacturing package however, training can be offered to an individual with other relevant experience.
• Good knowledge of sheet metal development and fabrication processes, particularly stainless steel
• Understanding of sheet metal machinery, manufacturing processes and design limitations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A professional telephone manner and customer-focused approach
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team
• A flexible attitude and willingness to support other areas of the business when required

Desirable Skills

The following would be advantageous:

• Experience within the commercial catering equipment industry
• CNC programming experience
• Experience programming Amada punch presses and/or Amada laser machines using Radan
