Overview

CAD Engineer required for design of subsea equipment for major international subsea cable projects.

An independent subsea cable consultancy and engineering company in Romsey are looking for a CAD engineer to support their work providing technical expertise, and equipment to major projects in the renewables, telecoms, and power distribution markets.

The ideal candidate will have recent experience of Autodesk Inventor software packages; a background in subsea equipment design, and knowledge of subsea hydraulics and electrical systems is highly desirable, as is other technical knowledge to support CAD work.

Responsibilities to include (in no particular order):

· Design of equipment or components in cooperation with Design & Project Engineers

· Preparing design and fabrication drawings using 2D & 3D CAD packages

· General drafting in support of projects and bids

· Assisting with on-the-job training of colleagues in drafting and use of software

· Compiling and maintaining Drawing/Design Improvement Register

· Compiling Specifications

· Liaison with fabricators & suppliers

· Preparing bills of materials

· Costing, specifying and ordering equipment and components.

· Working within ETA’s Quality and Safety Policies and management systems

· Willingness to learn calculations under supervision

About the Company:

ETA is a specialist Subsea cable consultancy and engineering company, providing engineering support, products and personnel to the renewable energy, telecoms, pipeline, and power cable industries around the world.

Our design team work on the development of subsea machinery, cable handling equipment, and cable accessories including burial machines (trenchers, jet sleds, ploughs etc…), deck machinery, and MV/HV joints. Work is typically bespoke to project requirements providing a range of different challenges to our engineers; we will also typically manufacture the items and support their use during operations allowing our team to see their designs in action. As a result, rather than being purely office based, our design team are often given the opportunity to be involved in the build process, and on operations.
