CADCAM Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated CAD/CAM Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between design and production by creating precise 2D/3D models and assisting in generating machining or fabrication instructions. You will work closely with senior designers, engineers, and production staff to ensure all technical specifications are accurately translated into the final product.

Key Responsibilities

Drafting & Modeling: Create, modify, and refine 2D technical drawings and 3D digital models based on rough sketches, dimensions, or verbal instructions.

CAM Programming Support: Assist in setting up toolpaths, cutting speeds, and generating basic machine codes (G-code) for manufacturing equipment.

Data & File Management: Maintain, organize, and archive engineering files, design revisions, and production documentation according to company standards.

Quality Assurance: Check digital designs and physical prototypes against specifications to ensure strict dimensional accuracy and quality standards.

Shop Floor Collaboration: Coordinate directly with machine operators, technicians, or fabricators to troubleshoot minor design issues or toolpath discrepancies during production.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Associate degree, technical diploma, or certificate in Computer-Aided Drafting, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Software Experience: Proficiency or strong familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360, Mastercam, or industry-specific tools).
• Technical Literacy: Ability to read and accurately interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Attention to Detail: High precision in work, with the ability to spot minor errors in complex technical data.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively across design and production teams.
