SRD Engineers is a Tampa-based civil engineering firm providing transportation and infrastructure services throughout Florida. For more than 20 years, our team has supported public agencies and private clients on roadway, drainage, site development, utility, and transportation projects.

We are looking for a CADD Technician to join our transportation team and contribute to the development of high-quality engineering plans and design deliverables.

The Position

This role is ideal for someone with hands-on CADD experience who enjoys detailed plan-production work and collaborating with engineers and project managers. The CADD Technician will assist with transportation projects for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and other public agencies.

Day-to-day work will include creating and updating engineering drawings, incorporating design revisions, organizing project files, and helping ensure plan sets are accurate and ready for submission.

What You'll Do

• Produce and update roadway and transportation drawings using engineering design files, sketches, survey data, markups, and project instructions.
• Assist in preparing plan sheets for roadway, drainage, traffic, lighting, signing and pavement marking, utilities, and other transportation-related work.
• Incorporate engineer and project manager comments into design files and plan sets.
• Work with alignments, profiles, cross sections, terrain models, corridors, and other 2D or 3D design information as needed.
• Perform drawing checks for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and compliance with applicable project standards.
• Coordinate with engineering and CADD team members to keep assignments progressing according to project schedules.
• Maintain organized electronic project files and follow established quality-control and document-management procedures.
• Assist with preparation of electronic deliverables and final plan packages.

What We're Looking For

• At least 2 years of CADD or civil design experience.
• Experience using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, FDOT Connect, or comparable civil design software.
• Ability to interpret engineering markups, sketches, design information, and technical instructions.
• Experience working with 2D and 3D design elements such as profiles, cross sections, terrain, or corridor models.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
• Ability to organize priorities and work on multiple assignments with established deadlines.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a project team.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PDF software such as Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam.
• Valid driver's license.

Experience That Is a Plus

Candidates with any of the following experience are especially encouraged to apply:

• FDOT transportation or roadway projects.
• FDOT CADD standards, workspaces, electronic delivery requirements, or plan-production procedures.
• Roadway, drainage, traffic, utilities, lighting, or signing and pavement marking plans.
• Formal CADD education, technical training, certificate programs, or an associate degree.

A degree is not required for this position. Relevant hands-on CADD and transportation plan-production experience will be strongly considered.
