Cafe 2IC (Fixed Term)

Artisan Café, Rangiora Bakery is a well-established, vibrant, and respected, North Canterbury business.

We are looking for a reliable, motivated and experienced hands-on 2IC to cover a period of parental leave. In this role you will work closely with the Café Manager to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of our café. You will deliver the highest possible standard of service whilst being proactive in maintaining and /or improving turnover and profitability.

Key responsibilities

·         Assist and support Café Manager to ensure the seamless smooth running of the café

·         Leading and supporting the front-of house team

·         Making consistently high-quality coffee

·         Provide friendly, professional customer service

·         Ensuring smooth communication between front-of-house and kitchen

·         Opening and closing café as required

·         Assisting customers, booking catering and function reservations

·         Follow food safety, hygiene and health and safety procedures and policies

·         Operate POS system and process payments accurately

·         Manage stock levels and report shortages

To be successful in this role you will have:

·         A minimum of 3 years’ proven experience in a similar role

·         Passion for hospitality, food and beverage

·         Extensive barista experience

·         Excellent working knowledge of food, health and safety regulations

·         Positive, practical and team focused attitude

·         Exceptional communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team

·         Approach the role with energy and enthusiasm

·         Remain calm and productive in busy periods

·         Working knowledge of Micro Soft Office products including excel, word and email

·         Working knowledge of POPs and report generation from POS Stems
