Lox in a Box is a Sydney deli and cafe group serving house-cured salmon, hand-rolled bagels and really good coffee across Bondi, Coogee, Marrickville and Paddington. About the role

As Assistant Manager you'll work alongside the Venue Manager to run the floor day to day and step up to lead the venue when they're off. You'll be on the floor most of your shift, setting the pace and the standard.

Key responsibilities

• Leading front-of-house service and running smooth, energetic shifts
• Coaching and developing the team, including onboarding and training new starters
• Holding service, coffee and presentation standards high, every shift
• Opening and closing procedures, cash handling and end-of-day reporting
• Supporting rostering to labour targets and keeping an eye on wage costs
• Stock ordering, receiving and waste control
• Food safety and compliance on the floor
• Handling customer feedback and service recovery with confidence and grace

About you

• 2+ years' supervisory or assistant manager experience in a busy cafe or restaurant
• Strong barista skills are a bonus: you can jump on the machine and teach others
• A calm, positive leader who brings people with them
• Organised, reliable and comfortable with numbers (sales, labour, stock)
• Availability across weekdays and weekends
• Food Safety Supervisor certificate and RSA highly regarded
