Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Cafe Cook to join our team in our brand new cafe located in historic downtown Fernandina Beach! In this vital role, you will be responsible for organizing your part of the kitchen, refrigerators and freezer. You'll be preparing and cooking a variety of delicious, high-quality meals for breakfast and lunch. Your expertise in food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety will ensure an exceptional customer experience. This position works in a medium-paced, medium-volume environment with room to grow, while adhering to strict safety and sanitation standards. Duties

• Follow recipes meticulously to ensure consistency and quality across all dishes.
• Operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens and food prep tools.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards by adhering to food safety procedures and sanitizing protocols throughout the food production process.
• Assist with menu planning and meal preparation for daily service as well as special events.
• Manage food handling responsibilities with attention to proper storage, portioning, and presentation.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure high-volume production meets customer expectations while maintaining efficiency.

Skills

• Proven experience in food service or restaurant environments
• Knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures to prevent contamination.
• Experience with menu planning, recipe adherence, and meal preparation
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently under pressure.
• Excellent food handling skills combined with attention to detail for quality control.
• Prior experience in restaurant settings is required; enthusiasm for culinary excellence is essential.

Pay: $17.50 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
