Café General Assistant

Hours: Permanent Part-time 20 hours.

The role will typically be worked over 3 days per week, usually Wednesday (4 hours), Saturday and Sunday (both 8 hours). Additional hours may be available during events and peak periods.

Pay: Hourly, at National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage (depending on age)

We’re on the lookout for a Café General Assistant to join our friendly, hardworking team. Every day is a little different here - you might be serving our homemade cakes with a smile, keeping the café looking its best, or helping visitors feel at home.

Your role:

You’ll play an important part in creating a warm, welcoming experience for everyone who visits The Farmhouse Table. From preparing and serving delicious food and drinks to keeping things running smoothly behind the counter, you’ll help make every visit one to remember.

What you'll be doing:

· Delivering exceptional customer service with a warm, friendly and professional attitude

· Handling cash and processing payments for customers

· Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety

· Ensuring counters and fridges are well-stocked, fresh, and attractively presented

· Responding to customer feedback quickly with care and professionalism

· Working closely with other team members to ensure the café and kitchen runs smoothly

· Keeping tables cleared and wiped and replenishing cutlery and napkins as required

· Working at pace to support other team members – flexibility is part of the role!

· You may occasionally be asked to support other areas of the Trust, and we value a positive, can-do attitude from all our team.

What you’ll need:

Essential:

· A positive attitude and great customer service skills

· Awareness of Health & Safety and allergen procedures

· Previous experience working in a busy hospitality environment

Desirable (but not essential – we can train the right person):

· Barista experience

· Merchandising skills and an eye for presentation
