About the role

We're looking for an organised, hands-on Cafe Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of the Te Ara Ātea Café at Rolleston Library. You'll create a welcoming experience for library visitors and the wider community, while keeping the café running smoothly, safely and sustainably. This is a fixed term (12 month) maternity leave cover contract.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the daily operation of the café, including opening and closing.
  • Welcome customers and help create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere.
  • Prepare and serve coffee, drinks and food, and maintain high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Recruit, train, roster and support café team members.
  • Manage stock, ordering, deliveries, waste and supplier relationships.
  • Oversee cash handling, point-of-sale processes and daily records.
  • Maintain food safety, hygiene, health and safety, and cleaning standards.
  • Monitor sales and costs, and contribute to budgets and regular reporting.
  • Respond to customer feedback and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
  • Work collaboratively with library staff and support café activity that suits the library environment.

What you’ll bring
