The Café Staff member helps provide friendly, efficient service and a welcoming experience for our customers. This position is responsible for preparing and serving beverages and café menu items, operating the Toast POS system, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and supporting daily café operations.

Staff members will receive training to develop their skills and may have opportunities to assist in other areas, including the kitchen or deli, as needed. Pay will increase as training is completed and job responsibilities grow.

Starting Pay: $15.00 per hour

Duties/Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, helpful service.
• Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other café beverages according to established recipes and quality standards.
• Operate the Toast/ Square POS system accurately and efficiently.
• Process cash, credit card, and other payments and provide receipts and correct change.
• Answer customer questions about menu items, beverages, ingredients, and available options.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café counter, equipment, dining area, and workstations throughout the day and closing.
• Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Assist with kitchen or deli operations as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities

• Friendly and positive attitude with good customer service skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced food service environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes, instructions, and food safety procedures.
• Comfortable working with customers and handling money.
• Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers as part of a team.
• Previous café, barista, restaurant, or food service experience is preferred, but not required. Training will be provided.
• English Intermediate/Conversational ability (CEFR A2 or equivalent or higher).
• Japanese and/or Spanish language ability preferred, but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to bend, reach, and move around the café and kitchen areas as needed.
