Cafe Worker/FOH

About the role

Cornwall Park Café is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Café Worker to join our busy front-of-house team in Epsom, Auckland. This is a permanent full-time position, with a minimum of 30 guaranteed hours per week, rostered across our seven-day operation. Our Café is a busy destination within Cornwall Park, serving a large number of local customers and visitors throughout the week. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, works well in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in providing excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Greeting customers and providing friendly and professional customer service.
• Taking food and beverage orders accurately.
• Operating the POS system, processing payments and handling cash transactions.
• Serving food and beverages to customers.
• Preparing and presenting simple food and beverage items as required.
• Clearing used dishes, glasses and cutlery from tables.
• Cleaning and resetting tables for customers.
• Washing dishes, cutlery and other café utensils when required.
• Maintaining cleanliness of café equipment and front-of-house work areas.
• Assisting with restocking, receiving stock and putting away deliveries.

About you

• Have a minimum of 6 months' relevant café or hospitality experience.
• Have strong customer-service and interpersonal skills.
• Be confident taking orders and using a POS system.
• Be comfortable working in a busy, high-volume café environment.
• Be reliable, well organised and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Have a good standard of personal presentation and hygiene.
• Be able to communicate confidently with customers and colleagues.
• Be available to work a flexible roster, including Saturdays and Sundays.
• Be able to work within our operating hours, approximately 7:30am to 5:00pm, with rostered start and finish times depending on business requirements.
